2009 PGA Professionals Championship State Qualifying July 29 – August 17
As the country’s top PGA Club and Teaching Professionals competed in the State Pre Qualifying Rounds for a place in the PGA Professionals Championship to be played at the Sandhurst Golf Club September 14-17, the momentum and unmatched success of the Titleist across every major equipment category was evident once again. From golf balls to drivers, irons, wedges and putters, more players made Titleist their top choice in equipment in the 2009 PGA Professionals Championship Qualifying than any other.
It is in venues such as the recently held State Qualifying events for this year’s PGA Professionals Championship, where Titleist receives affirmation from PGA Club and Teaching Professionals that their equipment objectives of quality and high performance across every category are met and exceeded. PGA Professionals devote their careers to helping golfers improve and enjoy the game of golf. So when it comes to choosing the highest performing equipment for their own games, just look in their bags.
Below is a breakdown of Titleist equipment success at the 2009 PGA Professionals Championship State Qualifying events by category:
GOLF BALLS: The overwhelming choice at the PGA Professionals Championship State events, 153 out of 184 competitors trusted Titleist golf balls, more than five times all other golf balls combined.
In fact 43 out of the 50 qualifiers for this year’s PGA Professionals Championship final relied on the Titleist Pro V1 or Pro V1x golf ball for their success including all six State qualifying winners; Jindalee Assistant Professional Russell Smith in Queensland, Eastern Golf Club Director of Golf Alex Tahin in Victoria, Kogarah Golf Club Head Professional David Gannon in NSW, Wembly Golf Complex Teaching Professional Tony Mills in WA, Kooyonga Golf Club Head Professional Mike Sprengel in South Australia and Launceston Golf Club Head Professional Jason Russell in Tasmania.

DRIVERS: Titleist was the driver choice of more players with 66, more than 36 percent of the field, compared to 22 for the nearest competitor.


FAIRWAY METALS: Titleist was the fairway metal of choice of more players with 52, compared to 23 for the nearest competitor.


HYBRIDS: Titleist also led in the Hybrid count on the strength of the popular 909.H with 49 in play, compared to 16 for the nearest competitor.


IRONS: Titleist achieved the distinction of being the #1 iron at the PGA Professionals Championship State Qualifying events, with more players relying upon the solid feel and advanced performance of Titleist’s family of irons. With 68 sets in play, over 37 percent of the field trusted Titleist irons compared to 22 sets for the nearest competitor.


SAND, LOB AND APPROACH WEDGES: Bolstered by the tour-proven success and momentum of Vokey Design and Vokey Spin Milled series of wedges, Titleist was the overwhelming sand, lob and approach wedge choice of more players. Titleist was used by 102 players, compared to 17 for the nearest competitor.


PUTTERS: Just as it is on the PGA Tour, Titleist was the most played putter amongst competitors at this year’s PGA Professionals Championship state qualifying events. A total of 64 players placed their confidence in the feel and precision of Scotty Cameron by Titleist putters, with 37 for the nearest competitor.
