Hands Held High

The air was so thick, in the middle Georgia foothills. We were using iced down rags to hold the heat at bay. July 30th in Georgia is a great time for golf if you are ready for being baked like a clam in a beach fire.
It happened so fast. After all these years I kind of guessed it wouldn't happen. You never think of it before you hit. Unless it's a tourney with prizes or something. It was a regular day at golf with my regular group.
139 yards later. It had never left the flag. My seven iron high and straight. 1 bounce 1 hop and a plop. Into the cup. My hands go up. My partner starts screaming. The other 2 guys didn't have much to say. You see we have a standing bet. $100 a man for the guy who gets a hole in one. The first time in our group this has ever come to fruition. A great moment that was just that. A moment. I'll never forget.
