From the Buick Open

We were on site earlier this week at Warwick Hills G&CC in Grand Blanc, Mich. as the players prepared for the Buick Open. We showed some photos a couple of weeks ago of players testing new prototype drivers out at Oceanside, and we were able to continue player testing this week at the Buick. In fact, twelve players decided to game one of the new drivers for the tournament this week (11 Titleist 909D2 prototype, 1 Titleist 909D3 prototype). Be sure to check out the photo gallery featuring some of the Titleist ambassadors and staff on hand during the practice days.

Congratulations to Scott Hebert, who won the 41st PGA Professional National Championship this week at Reynolds Plantation in Georgia. Scott becomes the ninth Titleist Staff Player to win the event in the past 10 years. A great ambassador for the Titleist brand, Scott is a 39-year old head professional at Grand Traverse Resort & Spa in Acme, Mich. He won the event in dramatic fashion, closing with a final round 4-under-par 68, which included five birdies over the final nine holes for a 31 to win by one shot. The top 20 finishers of the PGA PNC earn invitations to the 90th PGA Championship. It will be an added bonus for Scott that the event will be contested in his home state of Michigan, when it is played from August 7-10 at Oakland Hills Country Club in Bloomfield Township.

Titleist was the most played golf ball at the PGA PNC with 181 players, compared to 76 for the nearest competitor. Titleist also swept the equipment categories as the top choice in the driver (151), fairway wood (253), utility metal (110), irons (146), wedge (347) and putter (121) categories.

We made it over to TPC River Highlands earlier this week to catch up with some of the guys while they practiced for this week's Travelers Championship on the PGA Tour. Check out our photo gallery from the practice areas, and be sure to notice the variety of drills and training aids that the players employ.
