I had a fitting for 2 new SM6 last weekend - the first time I have been fit for wedges and it certainly won't be the last. I had 2 old Miz wedges in a 50 and 54 as well as a 60 SM5 all of which have served me well and, to be honest, I did not think needed changing. The fitting showed me that the gapping was slightly uneven in terms of my PW when compared to the 50 and then the 50 compared to the 54. But the surprising thing is that I have gone for a 50 and 54 again with the same bounce - the fitter told me that gapping was improved as the lofts on the Miz had probably weakened over time. He was going to test them on the loft and lie machine at the end but I forgot.

So I have 2 new wedges on the way with my kids names stamped on them but I am under strict instructions to hand them over for wrapping and I can't use them until Christmas!!

Merry Christmas and congratulations on your 2 - new SM6 wedges! I did my first wedge fitting about 3-4 years ago ... and it was terrific! It was great to have the yardage/gapping of the wedges too.

We too, used the Trackman for data feedback and it was performed outside, off of the turf. We also then performed some testing in the sand bunker/around the greens, etc. too so that we could get a better idea of the "feel" and preferences for the grinds, etc.

I just completed another fitting quite recently as I am now looking to potentially swap out my wedges for the SM6 versions.

I'm like you James -- never do it again without a full on fitting/testing!

Thanks for the reply. I played at St George's Hill in Surrey, UK yesterday which is in the top 5 of all the courses I have played. It was in stunning condition for this time of year. My friend has just bought 2 816 hybrids which I tried out on a few holes and want to add them to my Christmas list now!!!

Good to hear you went this route with the new wedges, James. i had been fitted several years ago for my SM 4's (54/8 and 58/6) and got fitted again this fall after winning a new personalized SM 6 at the TT Invitational. I ended up with 50 (50/12, F), 54 (54/14, F), and 58 (58/12, K). The biggest change for me was the grinds and the bounce. We worked long on the proper bounce, then gapping, then continued to validate the bounce out of the sand. I love the feel and the performance of the new wedges and will never buy another without a full fitting.

I also was fit. Never fit for a wedge before. I got a 46, bent to 48, a 54, bent to a 55, and a 58, bent to 59. The 10 YARD DIFFERENCE IS VERY ACCURATE. Love the SM6. Never thought I'd give up the SM 5's.. Glad I did.

Well the wedges have arrived and of course I had to have a peek to ensure the stamping was correct. They've been taken off my now but I'll post a picture just after Christmas. Wish I had changed my 60 to complete the set but it is pretty new still so couldn't really justify it.
