After really liking the 917 D3 at the Invitational at Pinehurst, I ordered one with the Evolution 661 stiff shaft. During the maiden voyage on Saturday I hit some really nice drives. My fitting had me picking up 14 yards over the 913D3 Oban Kiyoshi---while decreasing spin and increasing launch. I believe it now. More than once my playing partners commented on the height of my tee shot---like "got under that one" only to find I was 10-15 yards longer than they were.

I also ordered the 917F 13.5 degree 3-wood+. I really liked the one I hit in Pinehurst.

I am looking at the T-MB irons. I currently play 714 AP2. I guess they compare closely but I really like the feel and look of the T-MB. Anyone play these who can offer some insight on moving to them?

    Thanks.

David, I've played and owned the 714 & 716 AP2's. I just got fitted for the T-MB's at TPI in Oceanside. I'm ordering 4-PW of the 716 T-MB's which I love. They are very similar but have a different feel than the AP2's when hitting them. It would go with your gut and get the T-MB's. But hit them first at an authorized Titleist fitter just to make sure. Keep us posted what you do. Good luck! Vern

I use a T-MB 4 iron. I find that I hit it the same distance as the CB 4 iron, but it is a bit easier to hit higher. It launches a bit easier. I have hit the 716 AP2 and did like it, but the T-MB feels a bit more like the CB/MBs that fill out my set.
  4. I play a combo set of 716AP2 and 716 TMB....I really love the combo...the TMB are higher launching and have a better feel in my long irons surprisingly!

Hi David, I went from 716 4-7 AP2 + 8-PW MB to 3-PW T-MB, I love the look and feel of Blades and these give the best of both worlds. I also find them more forgiving than blades and launch a little higher with no distance lost !
Getting fit is also very helpful as I've now got TT XP105 S300s in which I would never have tried had I not been to a fitter.

Pulled the trigger on the T-MB 5-GW. These have the S400 stiff shafts. I decided to leave the shafts until after I tried them.

WOW! My first round included a 182 yard 6 iron to 3 feet and several shorter irons that just jump off the face at a high launch and stay there. Yesterday I hit a 195 yard 5 iron to six feet---just beautiful to watch.
