Well - It took a while due to a bit of an issue at my end, but Mitch stepped in and got things moving for me. The new irons showed up early this evening and I brought them home to install my grips. On Friday I get to take them out and give them a workout with my regular Friday foursome.

So happy to have them in the bag.

    A new AP1 4 iron, and a set of AP3's from 5 through PW.

Here is a picture of them on my workbench after I installed the grips :)

Thank you very much for all your help on this order Mitch !!!!!

Looking good, Darius! I went AP1 4 and 5 then transitioned to AP3 at 6 iron through PW. I couldn't switch from AP1 in my 4 and 5 as they're just so clutch on long Par 3's or on tight dog legs where you need to place it perfectly.

    Enjoy!

Can't wait to get mine as well. My Hybrid and TMB showed up last week and the irons are scheduled to ship late next week!! Its always kinda of bittersweet when Titleist releases new product here in Canada, so amped up to get it but it means that the season is coming to a close. Atleast they will look all fresh and shiny in the basement over the winter months.

Hey Darius ... your new set of clubs look very sharp indeed! With the exception of the 716 MB/T-MB's, I really like the appearance of the new 718 lineup much better than the 716 series.

I know that it has only been a few days, but I would love to hear your thoughts on the new clubs Darius! How are you liking them so far? And how would you compare them to your older AP1's?

    All the best!

Dino - I have to say I like the new irons and they are certainly doing what they were set up to do during my fitting with Chris. The goal was to get the same distance with each iron but to increase the trajectory so that they land and stop at the selected distance rather than count on a 10 to 15 yard roll out to get there.
I have only had two rounds with them so far, and I have to say that when I put a good swing on them, they do exactly as hoped. When I put an "okay" swing on them I am still getting decent results so life is good. I did shoot 78 today so I cannot complain :) The key seems to be to let the club do the work and not try to force it. Then they fly beautifully. As such I am really pleased as I do not have to try and make a shot, just swing.
It will certainly take a bit of time to get used to them as I find they do not feel as heavy at the head as the AP1's and one has to remember I have played at least 700 rounds with my old set. But I am certainly happy I made the switch.

My new 917 D2 driver arrived today and I brought it home to install my grip. I look forward to getting out on Thursday to put it into play with the new irons.

For those who wonder why I am installing my own grip, it is not because Titleist would not do it, but because I am using the CP2 Jumbo grip which is not a normal offering. I use the Jumbo grips because I have large hands, and I struggle a little with tennis elbow and the larger grip really helps with that.

"It will certainly take a bit of time to get used to them as I find they do not feel as heavy at the head as the AP1's"....

A bigger grip will do that. Unorthodox as it may seem, some people require components that OEM manufacturers can not or will not build. I understand your requirement, hope you enjoy your new clubs Darius!

    FJL:

I know the larger grips will certainly affect the feel of the head a bit as I had the same grips on my older AP1's. It could be just me at this point because they look so much slimmer my mind may be telling me they are light. I have little doubt they are working though because I am striking them well with a good swing. I love them and have no second thoughts. Just admiring them as I set up for the next shot :)

Gorgeous irons Darius! Good to hear you like them so well.

As much as I’m tempted by newer irons, I really like my 712 AP1’s. Maybe one day I’ll upgrade but right now they feel so good I don’t want to change.
