I have been a hardcore fan of Titleist/Footjoy for 20+ years. All of my equipment, gear, and clothing are all Titleist/FJ, but I must admit I'm getting frustrated with the lack of information regarding the release of the AVX ball. I've been playing the ProV1x for many years and have had no inclination to change golf balls, however; a friend of mine visited Florida in December, purchased some AVX balls and gave me two of them. I love the ball and have seriously considered switching but since I live in North Carolina they aren't available and Titleist, to my knowledge, has not disclosed if and when the AVX will be released.

It is my opinion that if you are serious about your game, you do not change golf balls often, brand or model, because it can have a serious impact on your ability to score. The only reason I tried the AVX is 1) It's a Titleist 2) These balls were given to me and I felt obligated to give them a try. The two balls given to me are in rough shape but I still have them.

It's getting to be that time of year when I really try to dial in my game and equipment. I would appreciate it if Titleist would communicate something regarding the release of the AVX. If it isn't going to be released in the next month, I don't want to continue playing the two balls I have.

    Thanks for any feedback.

While not officially released, there is a reasonably large distribution. I first saw them at Tobacco Road, since then, my local muni (Titleist fitter), my local non-chain retailer, and 2nd Swing (online) have all had them. I'm in Wisconsin, and have 8 dozen amber on the shelf for the season. I didn't even look at balls when in Florida at the 2 courses I played. I'm over-stocked.
I'm also expecting that there will be an announcement in the next 3-6 months.

Try not to beat them (Titleist Company) up too bad. They always did limited trials of prior models on a lower scale, only using unmarked "test" balls for pros and a few of us to try before deciding to make them available. I think its a good thing that they expanded the test to some limited release markets to get a larger assessment.
  4. I've seen them here in Michigan at two different retailers. I checked the web pages of the stores that had them and they are not available. You may have to call and see if they will sell & ship them to you (Carl's Golfland and Maple Hill GC).

I'm with you JK. No mention anywhere on AVX being released to us in the north. I will not continue playing any if they are not being released to us. Why would you play a ball that you can't get.
  6. I have yet to try them myself, but given all the great feedback I feel sure that they will be released relatively soon. A possible short term solution might be to snag a couple dozen off of Ebay to hold you over. I don't blame you for holding out until the final word though. I play the NXT to save money (might switch to DT Trusoft), so the final price point on the AVX may take me out of the market for them. Hopefully I will find some in the tree's!
  7. While the new AVX will compliment the existing proV1 lineup of ball as the low launching option, I would take a couple out with your normal ball and compare the two starting on the green and green side then moving out to the long shots placing a higher emphasis on the green and green side preferences.

Stay tune and don't give up... I've been seeing them a lot lately in my area at least. my local golf shop had some in stock.. I have to say i did test these a few weeks ago down in Florida and was pretty impressed. Felt like i was playing a prov1. Didn't really pay attention to the flight or spins but will definitely try them again...
