We have been very fortunate this year on the Westcoast. Our course has been open all year with the exception of a couple of major rain storms. No snow at all. www.titleist.com/.../uty25a8niwpozvzcfej5

Titleist has the fancy, Tour Truck only branded lead tape. Pretty clever marketing move in reality because it looks like it's supposed to be there

Our course opened on April 1st. Since it has opened it has closed twice because of snow cold weather has also affected the rounds. Have managed to get 4 rounds in but looks like it’s closing again on Thursday if the weather guy is correct as snow is coming

Alas Alex - Up here in Barrie - Innisbrook opened recently, but it has been raining every day and now today it is a high of only 4C. Just a bit too cold right now. The good news is that the cold sunny weather will help dry things up so that should help. My course - National Pines - is scheduled to open on May 1....

Shuffler uses a Pro-V as well. Mat is an extraordinary example of fewer tour players signing 10/13/14 club contracts. With prize money expansion, they are less dependent on equipment contracts. Myself, I could gladly use one. LOL. More importantly for them is to not compromise on equipment to have the best score.. Although working with 5 companies across the bag must add complexity to assessing upgrades in the off season.
Lead tape is still fairly common on tour. There are a couple that even cover the entire back of an iron.. I fit the criteria for a GT-1 driver, but it can balloon. Lead tape both allows me to feel the head better and adding the tape forward cuts the overspin. I was fit into the 12 degree but I might do better with the 10.5. Dialing the loft to 11.25 and adding the tape was about $640 (US) cheaper than getting the GT-1 10.5., not counting trade-in. Changing the weight in the back of the head would not have changed the overspin, potentially increasing it.

Now that was a great Masters Tournament. The lead changed a number of times, Scotty Scheffler was climbing up the leader board, and so many others right there. One missed shot, one ball in the water, one poor recovery and everything changes for anyone. So much more exciting than watching when it is more or less decided early on because someone has a huge lead. In the end - Rory was indeed a deserving champion.

It's Masters Week !

It is now Masters Week. This to me has always signalled the beginning of golf for the season. My courses around here are not open yet, but it is indeed time to polish up the shoes, check my ball supply, clean out all the pockets of my golf bag, and replace the grips on my clubs. The start of that is to watch the Masters on TV and take in all the coverage starting with the Ladies Amateur, the Drive Chip and Putt, the Par Three contest, and then the Main Event ! This year is a tough year to pick a winner as there are so many that are trending in the right direction. I am thinking Aberg has a real chance to finally get in a great round on Sunday for a win, but my wish is to see our Canadian Corey Conners maneuver his ProV1 around Augusta and end up with a Green Jacket !!!!

To be fair, skipping a Golf Town fitting is a good idea in general. Even the Titleist Thursday pop-up fittings are far superior.

GT series price drop

Hey Guys

Woke up the other day to see the GT series has dropped in price in Canada... (And FJ traditions dropped to $140 LOL). fantastic news. Is anyone buying one or getting fit for the GT? I myself bought a TSR 2 driver and a 16.5* fairway metal when the TSR series did a price drop and looking forward to hopefully getting a GT2 driver.

My question, who/where do you get fit? I was fit for the TSI3 years ago and outgrew it as when we dod the a/b testing the TSR2 was the clear winner on the track man. I have always used 9* drivers in A2 setting for last two fit sessions and am thinking to just pull the trigger and give er a go. so to speak but I guess has anyone done club fitting at Golf Town? It would cost me $60 then id probably order it from Titleist as the shaft is glued to your fit position and call me crazy but the graphics can set me off by being "busy"

Ive always been fit into the same tensei 55g blue shaft. only difference last two fittings went from 45" to 45.5 and noticed a little longer driving distance for me so I would assume the shaft would stay the same as I really like it a lot....

Previous two times fittings were done at my old club (Truro Golf Club) which is a Titleist pro shop. When fit was done and clubs were ordered, the fitting charge was waived. At GT I'd have to pay a $60 fee.....

I work at a "tailor-made" club as the equipment mechanic/junior greenskeeper and going to University of Guelph doing my turf grass management program so the club I work at, we would never have a "Titleist fitting" hence asking about Golf Town....

I saw improvements going from TSI3 to TSR2 and hopefully will see a difference going to GT2.

Looking for opinions on fitting options.

Love the weighting on the fairways gives your fitter a good opportunity to dial it in perfectly. I guess hybrids will be down the road but I’ll be ready

Gary Woodland - Texas Children's Huston Winner

It was not the nail biting, tense, edge of the seat finish to a PGA tournament that gets us groaning or shouting at the television, but it certainly was a hugely emotional one. For Gary Woodland to come back from brain surgery and be able to compete at such a high level is something special. For him to actually hold it together after opening up to the world on how hard it has been struggling through his PTSD following the surgery and pull off the win is amazing. Am I the only one that thought it ironic that the tournament he wins is one that has a hospital as the prime charity ??? Watching Gary in his post round interview - it was hard not to shed a tear. It is moments like these that make one love this game and the impact it has on individuals and communities. It was also nice to see that he has a custom Scotty and a ProV1 to help him into the winners circle :)
