The T-MB P & W will go higher with less spin than a Vokey (assuming you match everything else, grip, length, loft and shaft) Whether that works better for you is dependent on your game. The Vokeys will have an advantage in that it is more versatile on creative shots.

RE: 716 AP2 vs 716 T-MB

[quote user="Cathi, Titleist Club Concierge"]

Hi Cathi, I know this is an old thread but I'm looking at purchasing a full set of T-MBs and need some clarification please.

Am I correct in my understanding that the T-MBs DO have the tungsten weighting in the 2-9 irons but NOT in the P & W?

I ask because I'm trying to decide if there is a noted advantage in playing the T-MB P & W or just playing the 2-9 and using my Vokey SM5 46* & 50* for P & W.

Thanks as always!

Re: 716 AP2 vs 716 T-MB

Bigtcat, I can tell you that I have played AP2's since they came out I went to AP2's from 735's and I have always loved them. I have carried my 735 2 iron since 2007 and this year I hit the T-MB during a fitting and now I have the 4 and 5 iron in the T-MB they are aweosme during my fitting the 4 iron and 5 iron launched a little higher and a little longer than the AP2. I was thinking of a combo set between AP2's and CB but once I hit the T-mb I was sold !!! I would recomend a combo set T-MB longer irons and AP2's sorter irons but this is just my opinion hope it helps.

Re: 716 AP2 vs 716 T-MB

While I have tried the T-MB's, I decided to go with the AP2's for my entire set...

On a sidenote, I have been playing AP2's for the last 4 generations if that makes a difference...the 716's are the biggest difference I have felt and played!

Re: 716 AP2 vs 716 T-MB

For those players that do not need help with launch, the AP2 short and mid irons and the T-MB longer irons seemed to be the direction they moved towards. The AP2 has a higher MOI (more forgiveness) than the T-MB.
How has the T-MB performed with players that don't need help with launch?

I have seen reviews with the 4 iron that was yielding higher ball speeds with less spin, and I guess I am just curious if this has been the effect you have seen in testing. I do not need help with launch, but am interested in the increased ball speeds and forgiveness that the T-MB appears to offer.

Thanks again for your response!
