I will very likely be buying a new set of T300's soon. My question is:
What is the max that Titleist will bend loft on T300's on a special order? I’m planning on bending 2-3* weak so the 4-iron in the set starts at 22* or 23* and the P

RE: Bending to adjust loft on T300's?

I think what Dale is pointing out is that the idea of adding loft to each club won't automatically make the ball go higher. All you are essentially doing is making the ball go a half a club shorter by weakening the loft. And by adding loft to the club, you are also adding bounce, which may not be beneficial to your your swing type. Typically people bend their irons a degree or so to get to specific yardages or do have consistent gaps throughout the set. If you need HEIGHT, your best solution would be to work with your fitter to find a better shaft (sounds like you would be better off with graphite) or possibly a different head that gives you the ball flight you want.

RE: Bending to adjust loft on T300's?
Dale - thanks for the advise but I wouldn't want to just carry 6-PW. I would appreciate it if a Titleist rep would reply on what the max is that they (Titleist) will bend a new set (4-PW) for loft on a special order placed to them. Is the limit on bending loft 1* or 2* weak for T300's?

Thanks!
I think you are missing Dale's point. By bending a 4 iron 2* week, you are almost making it a 5 iron. Why not bend the 5 iron 1 degree strong to make it the same as the 4 iron 2* weak. Less bending of the cast club. On the back end of the set, since the PW will be bent 1* strong, add an additional Gap Wedge also 1* strong. You will get the same result. You can have them step the shafts with a 4 iron shaft in the 5 iron head and so on. Most folks would probably prefer 1* less bounce than 2* more bound through a set. You end up with the same # of clubs. The number on the club is only a number. It is a game of distances, so who cares what your 150 yd club says on it.

RE: Bending to adjust loft on T300's?

Yep, that's what I said, 2 degrees max. I still stand by my personal belief that it makes more sense to club up or down than to bend an entire set. People get too hung up on the number on the bottom of the iron. Sounds like you could dump the 4 iron and add an extra wedge to get the same effect of a set with greater loft. To each their own. Anyway, glad you called Customer Service and verified the info. Good luck with your set and enjoy. Happy Holidays!

RE: Bending to adjust loft on T300's?

2* should not be a problem on a custom order.

RE: Bending to adjust loft on T300's?

Dale - thanks for the reply! ... but I wouldn't want to carry just 6-PW. My suggestion would be to purchase the set a "club down" to maximize height without messing with the loft and impact to the bounce. if you normally play 5 - PW, order 6 - GW and add another wedge. You will get the results you are looking for without worry that a hosel is now weak or cracked and the bounce will not be increased as it would be by bending. Good luck.
