No rule says 4* separation between wedges. Mine are 46-52-58-61-64. The 46 is 48-10, the 52 is 54-14F, 58-12D, 61 is 62-08M (for hard lies),”Phil 64.” For me, a 54-14F bent to 52 swings better vs a 52-12F.

Lead tape affects swing weight and ball flight. Weight toward the toe induces a fade, weight toward the heel induces a draw.

Why not bend the 52 to 51? It will lower the bounce by 1*. Or even go to 50? The only problem is a 52-08 become 50-06. Or take the Vokey 48 and bend it to 47 and pull the G? (the bounce will be 47-09).

The reason a 48 “set” wedge gets slightly more distance vs a Vokey is the latter stops the ball better.

Dave Pelz had tips about distance control. 10 yards for each 1/2” choking down on full swings. 5 yards on half swings.

Without knowing your handicap I'd still say use it, learn to take a little off your longer wedge, that gap isn't too bad. Remember, unless you've had them checked, don't assume the stock loft is perfect. You'd be surprised.

So just to add..

I decided to bend my 48 2* and turns out it was sitting at a 47. Same as my PW. Weird how they were going the same distance..

Anyways I bent it to a 49 and it's much better and I'm pleased with it.

Bottom line, if you get a used club, double check to see if the previous owner also did some tinkering lol.

I totally agree with the 48 being overkill after about a week of playing with it. However, I do really like the feel of it with the tape on it. So what I'm going to do is bend it to a 50 and keep the tape. It should put me in that gap yardage that I want. I was just trying to go with a budget friendly option and seeing what works first

I don’t think you’ll see much difference with a small amount of lead tape added to the club. Because the club is slightly heavier you may find a slight decrease in club head speed.

Work with a shop. Another option is to fit the G to 48 or the 52 to 51. …or both. The 48 is overkill and even a 50 will be hard to define when to use in place of either the G or 52.

Just bend it to the loft you need.
