What I thought was right. This set was built 1/4" short but still built to D2. Just to justify what I was saying about chrome loss affecting swing weight, here's what I have:
3 iron D2.5 (different grip)
4 iron D2 (no chrome loss)
5 iron D2 (no chrome loss)
6 iron D1.5 (some chrome loss - leading edge)
7 iron D1 (more chrome loss face & sole)
8 iron D2 (less chrome loss than 7)
9 iron D1.5 (more chrome loss face & sole)
PW D0.5 (lots of chrome loss & face loss). Had to cut new grooves in bottom 2 groove areas.

Hi Mike -

Thanks for the info on refurbishing clubs! There was no paintfill in the grooves on the 690mb irons. The standard swing-weight at those specs would be D2 range.
