GT1 3 Tour

Hi Guys, I’ve always struggled with fairway woods, I love my GT2 7 wood but the 3 wood has always been an issue. I’ve had a GT280 in the bag for the last few months but I find it goes too far off the tee and requires a perfect lie to hit it off the deck. I’ve ordered a GT1 3 Tour as It looks like it could be a good fit for me. I’m just wondering if any of you have one and how you are finding it ? Cheers

I have played a 3tour for over a year now myself. I just got fit into a traditional GTS2 3 wood at 15 degrees. Despite loving the 3tour it is a bit too strong and its running out just a bit too much for me. I have it on a Diamana RB and saw some spin increase on the GTS2 paired with a Tour AD FI so I'm really excited to try that out.

Theres always a decision to make where the larger gap is going to be in your bag, for me personally, I didnt need such a small gap between driver and 3. So ill be gaming this new 3 wood with a GTS2 7 wood which gives me a pretty good gap for the numbers/shots that I find myself needing to hit.

Scratches on Phantom 9R from Headcover

There are unexplained scratches on the top of my Phantom 9R which I can only assume have come from the headcover. I am disppointed that a new putter would be like this after a few rounds, Any others seeing this?

That usually happens when sand from sanded greens are on the bottom of your putter and you don't wipe it before sticking in the head cover.

Is there a way to look up original custom specs?

Find out where the original owner was fit and see if they store that. I got T-150s in 2023 from Koosa in SC and they had my specs. Just swithced to the 2025 t-250s

Probably not unless it was recent but I suggest you call customer service. That number is at the bottom of the website. This is a question for them, not really for the users on the forum. Best wishes and hope you get your answer.

Does the GTS2 sit the same as GT2? As far as face angle?
I have my GT2 at C1 and wish could move it a bit more.

I had my staff fitting yesterday and got a chance to hit all 3 models, I ended up going with the GTS4 moving from the GT3.

Still hitting 712s

I am and have been for many years hitting the same set of CB/MB 712s (4-7 CBs & 8-PW MBs) with Project X 6.5 shafts. I have wondered lately how much of a difference the new technology in irons would make in distance and dispersion. Which current irons would be the most similar to the 712 MBs? I enjoy hitting both, but seem to like the feel of the MBs better. 3 handicap.

Thoughts?

I have tried newer AP2s and T200s, but keep going back to my 712 CB/MB combination. The others feel great and go a little farther, but I hit the 712s consistent and straight for the most part. The older I get the more the likelihood I will switch, but I love hitting the 712s and will until I can't.

Putter Fitting

Had my first ever putter fitting last Saturday with SAM lab. I wish I had done this a lot sooner. It took about an hour, and I ended up with a Scotty Studio-Style square back. Feels so good off the face, and I would highly recommend getting fit for a putter.

Titleist U505 3 Iron with a crack on top

Hello!

I just bought a used U505 3 Iron and it has a crack on top. The seller says he played it two months and there was no difference in use and sound. He also asked his fitter about it and he confirmed that it is just cometics. So I bought it for a low price.

Today I tried it and the sound is pretty high and pingy. Now I am not sure if this crack really is no issue and pure cosmetics. What do you think about it? Have you ever seen an iron crack on top?

Like Don said, this is not cosmetic. The crack is along the weld line where the face is welded to the body. The crack will cause the face to flex too much and impact performance. This is not a warranty item as you were not the original buyer and likely also past the 12 month period.

907 D1 Driver. What i might upgrade to?

I love my 907 D1 Driver but starting to think that I might need an upgrade. There are so many good options out there but wondering what the best option might be. Should I start with something more recent or just go straight to a 2026 Model? Look forward to the advise that everyone provides.

He's 100% right about the shaft. Nothing affects the ball flight/performance more than the shaft.
And keep in mihd that just because a particular shaft works best in your driver, doesn't mean it will be the best for any other club. A good fitter will point that out for you.

Thanks for the comment. My Fitting unfortunately isn't with a Titleist specific fitter, but they have been the fitter that I've been going to for the last 6 years. The irons that I got fitted for have improved my game and no more knee or back pain.

Thanks for the comments. The Fitter that I'm going to is going to put me in a few different manufacturers drivers just to see the difference between them, but he said the most important thing is to match me with the right shaft. He said that without the right shaft it won't matter what driver I hit it won't improve my game. I'm relying on his expertise on this. Luckily, I have few options for possibly getting pulled shaft that's in great condition from a few people I know. My game has changed since my 2 meniscus surgeries, so I know my current setup is not right for me. Excited to see what comes from my fitting.

Putting

I have a Scotty Del Mar and thinking of getting a phantom 5.2. The feel off the face feels a lot softer. Love having the alignment line on the top of putter. Weight wise feels lighter too. I putt well with the Del Mar, but feel like an upgrade is in store. Anyone else made a similar switch?

I’ve actually wanted to do a putter fitting. Just haven’t got around to it. I’ll definitely consider it before making a switch.

GTS Hybrids

Hi all, Im getting the new GTS Metals this year as a replacement for my current 917 Driver and 3 wood. I also want to get the GTS 3 hybrid but I have yet to see something from Titleist regarding the hybrid lineup. Only the Drivers and the Fairwaywoods got announced via photos etc. Will the hybrids get released at the same time as the drivers and fairwaywoods and there is just not anything to find at the moment? I want to upgrade my bag if possible at the same time with driver, fairway and hybrid.

You probably missed the window for a new GT driver fitted to you for $450. Ask at your fitting if that is an option. With a $200 markdown, it is one of the best bargains out there. Coming from a 907 without hosel adjustments any will be an improvement. Not to mention if you’ve owned this 20 year old driver for over 6 years, your swing has likely changed in that time.

There are a lot of good drivers in the T series (TS, TSi, TSR) and GT line, but getting the best model, loft, and shaft for your swing will be more hit and miss. If you can get to a large retailer with a good volume of used clubs, they can best match you. For that, you may need to travel to LA or SD for that option. There are online stores like 2nd Swing and Global Golf that let you try for 30 days and let you apply the fee minus a small restocking fee to another club. Those do offer online consultations.

The GTS will be at least $650 new, for comparison.
