I agree with the Hat Saver Spray. I picked some up at the PGA Tour Superstore. Stuff is magic.

You can google - ProActive Sports Hat Saver to find it close to you.

Golf pro at my course suggested washing the hat while in the shower on my head

works like a charm, have washed many hats multiple times this year

I use Scotchgard fabric, costs about $10 at the store. Keeps the stains from coming in at all. I would suggest re-applying every few months depending on how often you play or wear the hat.

Glad to hear some of the suggestions are working for you. Now, remember to try spraying it with some water-repellent spray (inside and outside) and let it dry for about 24 hours or more and then it should be good to go! : - )

Not sure how I missed this post... I shave my head, so I get the worst of the sweaty hats... I use this spray called "Hat Saver" that you spray when you have a new hat and makes it so that the stuff washes out easily when you need to and takes much longer to get dirty from sweat in the first place.

Now, I won't wear a light colored hat until I've sprayed it.

It works great and my Team Titleist hat only gets dirty from other things now!

Hi guys,
My suggestion is to try taking your brand new hat and spray it inside and outside with a spray that you use for treating your shoes for creating a bit of "waterproofing". I suppose that you could also try 3M Scotch Guard spray as well -- it may work just as well.

The idea is that you will be treating the fabric BEFORE it ever becomes soiled and thereby making it more resistant to staining, easier to cleaning, etc. I have started doing this with my Titleist caps and it works like a charm!

Of course, I guess a large part of it will have to do with individual circumstances such as outside temperatures and how much perspiration each individual subjects their hats to, etc.

Also, put a coat of the spray on your older golf shoes to help make it easier to clean them in future!

Hi just had this problem. Here is some help since sweat is sodium (salt) my wife told me to vinegar hot water and dawn dishwashing liquid. Soaking it in the solution for a couple hours. Taking a brush to it a couple times then rinse in cold water. It's a white hat and looks great. I also steamed it with a iron after it was dry. Give it a shoot nothing to lose.

I have very good success with using the dishwasher. Put on the top rack, spray the stains with shout and brush it in. I let my hats stay in the full wash and dry cycles and take them out and put them on a towel and let them dry for a couple of days. Black is the most difficult to get the stains out of. Mine look like new, especially the mesh. If you check the internet there is a spray that you can put on your hats when they are new that is supposed to resist the stain. Have never tried it.

I use the dishwasher method and it works. Just don't let it go through the dry cycle, take the hat out before the dry cycle.

When you get a new hat or get your old ones clean purchase a can of "Hat Saver". It'll prevent the sweat stains. I play in Florida and it works great!! No more sweat stains or replacing hats every month or so.

I use the washer but without doubt, buying a new hat is the really best answer. I go through a new golf glove every two weeks in the summer and they are about the same price, so why not buy what looks and feels great! Buy new and feel great!

I wear the Titleist performance fabric hats and I have had good luck just washing them in the washing machine on the "delicate cycle" then I just let them air dry. I only wear white hats and it keeps them from getting that yellow sweat stain.

Yea, i am renowned for buying hats, I have tried the dishwasher and washer hat saver thing, however it always messes up the material inside the bill of the hat.

I will def try the little scrub brush, however might be quicker to just order like 5 hats at a time.

I bought one of the hat frames that you put your capon when you wash it. It keeps the shape of the cap throughout the wash process and allows the cap to dry in its natural shape.

I have a little soft bristle brush I use, the type you have in the shower to clean under your nails. Put some soap on it and scrub away...not aggressive or anything just lightly and enough to clean it. Rinse it off and let it air dry so I can use it the next day. Never had a problem doing that! The only time I get rid of a hat is when the wear/body & hair oil inside the brim is nasty! Usually 3-5 years but I'm always buying hats regardless LoL
