Most courses in the UK have a PGA Coach maybe you could try one of these. I did the same about a year ago as i was going through the same thoughts as you. Best thing I ever did, made a huge difference quickly and gave me things to go away and practise doing it the proper way. I was hitting the ball well etc but had developed my own way of doing it that wasnt quite right. This gave me even more of a buzz as i could feel myself improving over the lessons and then onto new irons custom fitted etc I love my lesson and it gives you a good sense of achievement when you go back and you being given credit for practising what youve been taught and its working.

Prices range for lessons. £20-30 ish for 30 mins or you can book up for a package which is abit cheaper. My coach is only £20 per 30mins which is really good and he has nearly 40years in golf. I live quite rural in the uk so prices near me are slightly cheaper but on average when i was looking around £25-£30 per lesson. I really have learnt so much from these and i would recommend it bud.

Luis P: There is no "right way". On you-tube, watch some Murray Irwin Norman (Moe Norman) videos. He realized that the golf swing was personal and did what worked for him. You appear to have a natural ability suited for golf. If you have only played for a year and you are posting low scores, perhaps your mind is preventing you from dropping even lower. Staying focused in the moment is difficult for most and affects even the greatest of golfers. Tiger Woods appears to have accepted and put to rest his personal issues and has moved on. His game is back on track as long as he stays in it mentally. Keep notes on what works for you, refer back to these notes if/when feel begins to fail, and simply enjoy the game.

I have always had lessons with my local club pro. When I first started playing seriously my handicap was 15 everyone was telling me how natural I was so like you I wanted to improve so I went to my local pro who offered a series of different packages from short to long game and within a couple of years I was down to 5.
So if you're serious about your golf and want to get better book a lesson with your local pro.
    Good luck.

The best solution Luis is to see a PGA professional. Talk to 2 or 3 and see which on has the best plan for you.

  7. Yes! Go ahead and see a closest PGA professional you can find, they'll teach you and train you.

You've played golf for a year and shot a 72? 18 holes? You, my friend, should be giving people lessons!

What Dro said! I've been playing for over 20 years and lowest I ever shot was 74. Good for you! And I agree with everyone, go see a local PGA Professional. See a few and see which one works best for you.

Speedy, I see a Master Instructor at the course where I play. He does not try to change my game. He works with my skills and tweeks the areas that need improvement. I also play with a teaching pro who is also helpful seeing me in action. Between the two things are improving. My irons, my tendency to get speedy (quick), and get a little out of alignment are my issues that affect my game.... the last two are pretty easy fixes..... find a Master Instructor in your area after checking out his credentials......mine has years of experience....
  13. I would ask around about the instructors in your area. I have been to a few and they are all a little different. I would reccomend trying someone who does not try and change to much at once, maybe adjusts two or three things and you will leave with something to work on instead of a headache of too much info.
  14. I feel like if you could find an instructor that doesnt try to change anything too dramatic but rather helps you hone your natural swing would be awesome for you! Clearly after only a year if playing youre doing a pretty decent job on your own. Haha. Congrats on the 72!!

Luis: sounds like you are ready for a lesson from a PGA Professional. These guys are amazing and can save you so much time. I recommend this. Get a good rapport and you can develop a good relationship.
  16. I agree a PGA professional is the way to go. Its well worth the cost to get proper instruction. As stated by others each instuctor is different. I would recommend talking with a few instructors to find out which match best to your needs.
