13th Hole 13th Day

My story is one of numbers. On Friday February 13th on the 13th hole of the Grand Pines course at Timber Pines, Florida, I had a stroke of luck when my ball found the bottom of the cup. Playing with my regular Friday group buddies, Albert, Jamey & Dennis we new it had a chance as the ball sailed on line towards the 172 yard hole tucked behind a mound on the left side of the green. There was a one club wind and my 4 iron was the perfect choice of club, as a ball mark showed the spot 15’ below the hole where the landing took place. My ProV1 ball came through with excellence. Of course a quantity of beverages were consumed and my bar tab ended up being substantially higher than a normal Friday!

I hit a 9 iron 139 yards on the 12th at st ives Cambridgeshire. The shot was looking good so I bent down to pick mg tee peg up and and my playing partners Mike and Leno said it’s close it’s disappeared.

I’ve been golfing since I was 6 yrs old. I have tried my whole life for the thrill of a hole in one and I finally got it! I went out with some buddy’s for our regular round and I hit a nice little fade on a 210 yd par 3, it hit the slope of the sand trap and rolled about 15 ft up and to the right and went in! I didn’t think it was even going in I thought I maybe went over the green, but our other group ahead of us were all yelling it went in! Happy to finally get my first Ace.

My wife has been recovering from breast cancer and she surprised me with a 9 hole round. I got there about 4 minutes before the tee time and just went to the first tee box. I was playing with 3 random guys, I was one over going into the 5th hole par 3 190 yards. When we walked on the tee box I stated “you’re lucky to walk away with a par on this hole”. There was about 15-20 mph winds off the right and helping I originally had a 7 iron and last second clubbed down to an 8. Which was hard to do being 190 yrds but I had to trust it. I tried to keep it low and was successful. The ball landed on the front edge and took a hop and started rolling and I shouted “disappear” and then it did! Ended up going even par which was the second time I’ve ever done that. Even if it was only 9 holes.

There are hole-in-ones… and then there are stories.

I was playing in a large scramble tournament with two flights, and as we stood on the tee box of our 18th hole, the head pro came over and told everyone to head back in and mark a par for any holes we hadn’t finished. The round was essentially over. But this was a drivable par 4… and we weren’t quite ready to be done.

The group ahead of us—good friends of mine—was just clearing the green. With a little friendly rebellion in the air, I decided to go ahead and play it anyway.

I teed up my AVX, took a swing, and absolutely flushed a high draw. The ball carried about 280, landed on the front of the green, took one big hop, and started rolling straight toward the pin. From the tee box, we watched as the guys on the green turned, tracked it, and suddenly threw their clubs in the air, yelling. “It went in!” We sprinted up to the green, half in disbelief… and there it was. Sitting in the bottom of the cup. A 288-yard par 4. My first hole-in-one. Not exactly how you draw it up—but honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way. And thankfully, drinks were already free that day… because that one could’ve gotten expensive.

My 3rd overall and 2nd in 3 weeks. 7 iron from 166 at The Buckhorn in Comfort, Texas. I made this one in the final round of my high school district tournament to shoot 75-71 and finish in 3rd place. My team won by 34 strokes!

Playing the infamous course The King and The Bear at the World Golf Village with good friends, a group of 8 guys. Hole number 2 is a short par 3 over water with bunkers protecting the right side with a nasty sloping green. I used a Gap Wedge for the 123 yard shot, pin was in the left front corner just 5 yards off the water. This is my second hole in one. Ironically both have been on the second hole of the course I was playing and I used an Titleist ProV1 ball, #2, how uncanny. Played with my good buddies who saw the event, Tim Caldwell, Dave Blackburn and Charles (Chip) Schenk. GREAT MEMORY !!!!!

My Hole-In-One Story

A little late sharing since I kept forgetting to post this, but 2 months later the thrill of getting my first Hole-In One hasn't worn off.

I started golfing 2 1/2 years ago at age 62 and I'm blessed to be able to play several times a week at my local country club which has quickly increased my skill level. This par 3 green is elevated 12 degrees where you can't see the green, just the flag. When I struck my Pro V1 with my 8-iron, it flew straight, but it felt like it was going to hit short and roll long since the trajectory of the flight was a little flat. My wife immediately said, "That's going in the hole." I doubted her.

As we rolled up to the green I looked around for my ball and didn't see it feeling certain that it rolled long and into the rough beyond the green. My wife immediately jumped out of the cart and straight to the hole yelling, "IT'S IN THE HOLE, IT'S IN THE HOLE!" I was thrilled, the twosome we were with were thrilled, the group ahead of us could here the commotion and my wife made sure to tell them all about it when we caught up to them on the next hole, LOL. The only bummer was that we didn't get to see the ball roll into the hole because of the elevated green. And by the way, thankfully, I didn't have to buy any drinks because the club charges us a minimal monthy fee for "hole-in-one" insurance. Thank you Titleist for the bag tage and honoring us with this forum!

Playing DeLaveaga in Santa Cruz, CA, with my good friends Kevin and Sean, and a new friend Yuji, we arrived at hole 15 around noon. The hole plays 172 yards from the blue tee markers and Kevin kicked us off with a beautiful shot to about 5 feet from the hole. Sean and Yuji went next and both hit good shots, just off the green. I decided to hit a 6 iron and it was a nice draw that started at the right side of the green and came back towards the hole which was playing up front. I saw it hit the front of the green and it looked good, but a little short of the hole. We got up to the green and couldn't find my ball so I thought maybe it had spun backwards off the front of the green, but the guys were saying maybe I should check the hole first. I'm thinking "no way" that's not likely, but I took a quick look anyway and sure enough there it was. I dropped the putter and 60-degree wedge that I had brought with me to the green and we all hugged. Felt amazing! Used the "Titleist Pro V1x" with number "68" on it that I have been ordering online from Titleist.com for a while. The number is what my kids wore when they played ice hockey as kids. Ended up chipping in for par on hole 17 as well, finished the round, and then gave my credit card to the bartender and bought drinks for everyone in the bar. Great Day!

2nd hole of the day, so the 3rd full swing for me. Playing Baytree National in Melbourne, Florida. 136 yards, back left pin and a little breeze. perfect 8-iron yardage for me at 67 years old. Straight as an arrow - one hop and a short roll and it disappeared.

3rd Hole in one for me all wit Titleist golf balls.

I have only been golfing 6 years. Was the 16th hole par 3 86 yards,I used 8 iron. Hits 3 feet from the green and roll straight in! Was so exciting and my husband was golfing with me.

That was fun. I hit an AP2 (2016) 7 iron from 167 to a back right flag. Shaped it left to right. We got to the green and this kid I was paired with was standing next to what I thought was my ball 20 feet short of the hole (right on the line I would have been on). His dad asked him if he was sure that was his ball he double checked and said yeah dad. That’s when the wheels started turning. I looked around and there was no ball in the surrounding areas or the rough so I’m like well you never know…peeked in the cup and there was my Pro V-1X freshly monogrammed with my name Hal. (First time I had put those in play)

Welcome to the Trip Aces club! Gonna need a third flag I guess!

Hole In One

My first ever hole in one came on Tuesday, March 30, 2026 at Wildwood Green golf club in Raleigh North Carolina where I am a member.

The number 12 par three is a difficult hole with water around 3/4 of the hole. The pin was on the back tier of the green 180 yards from the white tees.

I played a perfectly struck six iron, which landed in the middle right of the green and kicked left with a little draw spin rolling right into the hole. It was a moment I will never forget.

As always, my Titleist pro V1, Titleist driver, Fairway Woods, and hybrids as well as my Scotty. Cameron putter did not let me down! I will be in the market for Titleist irons in the next year or so.

When I was playing from the front tees at Boundary Oaks in Walnut Creek, I was on the 8th hole after a long round, shooting 2 over. When I set up to the ball, I had a special feeling. I unleashed a monster that bounced over a bunker and into the hole. I did not know it was close because it was dark and a lower green, but when I got up there, I celebrated like crazy.

Playing in our ladies 666 competition at Ipswich Golf Club, we approached hole 6, a long Par three 158 yards. It’s s still day (very little wind) so I decided to go with my Snake Eyes Driver…. I knew I had hit a nice shot as I and my fellow players watched the ball roll up onto the green. As this is an elevated green we could not see the end of the shot but assumed it was going to be nearish to the hole.

As we approached the green I was saddened as I could not see my ball, I assumed I had dropped into the bunker at the back. I took a look in the bunker but could see no ball, I then assumed I had gone through the back of the green into the rough. After another brief search I again could not see my ball ‘oh well’ I thought I will just check the hole!!

To my great surprise there nestled my ball. It was truly a great feeling as I have only been ar this club for just over a year and never imagined I would achieve a hole in one on this course.

March 29th at Lu Lu is usually about shaking off the winter rust, but the 15th hole had other plans. It was playing 105 yards into a stiff, biting wind. I caught it pure, and despite the gusts, my Titleist held its line perfectly, landing 3 yards past the hole, spinning back and tracking right toward the pin.

The walk up was the longest 100 yards of my life. I walked straight to the cup, looked down, and there it was sitting at the bottom. Nothing beats that feeling—or the brand that got me there. A perfect Sunday and a memory for a lifetime.

My son was playing hillside country club with his grandfather Sunday. Par 3 hole 2 he hits a great shot off the tee. They looked everywhere for this dead straight shot, couldn’t find the ball anywhere. Last ditch effort his grandfather says just check the hole. There it is! Great shot! Great way to keep a young player playing the game

My 14 year old son saw it roll in…I did not. And I didn’t believe him when he told me it went in.
