Ever have a nagging injury just squash your golf game? I have the radial nerve in the elbow area acting up. Walked off the course last week after 8 holes. And yes, I was playing very well!

I have a lovely back defect which I need surgery for it, most of the time I can manage 9 holes with little issues.
However very often I get a lack of stability and pain with it, I have been able to get finish my rounds but with a lot discomfort.

Left wrist flares up from time to time. Will ice it and rest it a couple of days, then back to golf.

How old are you? Not a sarcastic question. I'm turning 50 in a month and my life is a nagging injury. I've recovered from the knee replacement, mostly, but everything around it is different now so I have achilles, plantar fascia, calf muscles, etc. all affected in some part at any given time. Getting older isn't for wimps.

    Jeff,

I'm 52, a gym rat, still play hoops twice a week, and swing 115+ with 5 screws in one elbow and this nagging injury in the other. Let's see now, my right side has had a dislocated shoulder, broken collarbone, 5 screws in the elbow, and arm broken. I'm a walking calcium deposit....lol

A lower back issue that affects the sciatica either left or right at times but never at the same time. I always feel like I've been robbed each time I can't get on and play.

Sciatic nerve now going on 3 weeks, right side hip area. Getting better but rotation is painful

I get some elbow issues -- particularly if I've had to hit off turf mats for any length of time. Aside from Advil to just manage any inflammation, Biofreeze really works great. I keep a tube in my locker at the club and just put a small dab on before heading out. Doesn't stink and isn't greasy.

Does losing $20 every time i play hotsauce count as a nagging injury to my wallet?

On a serious note, yes my lower back every now and then. I do go to the gym but one thing i never do is stretch which I need to do more often. Ibuprofen is my BFF...
  10. Left wrist, lower back , lack of flexibility that I used to have. Most are age related. Never know how many rounds are left for anyone, so I choose to ignore the little issues as best I can and keep playing. Walk every round, get my exercise, enjoy the environment, people and surroundings, and not worry to much about the score card. Some rounds are good, which send my back again, some rounds are not so good, which send me back again as well! Isn't that why we all keep playing? Love this game!

Left shoulder issue has flared up over the last couple of months. Not sure how or why, but i'm trying to work through it, but at time it hurts at impact with my irons. I manage it with ice and rest.

I broke my left ankle last year, so now with a metal plate and screws in my ankle, post round it will flare up and I need to ice it down.

Sciatica, it is debilitating. Has gotten to the point where I have set(made them longer) all my irons to 39" so I don't have to bend over as much. It works.

Spondylolysthesis. One of the rings that connects the vertebrae is broken. Not as bad as it sounds, a lot of guys who played football have it, too. Makes it harder to carry a golf bag (or backpack when hiking) for any great distance. I compensate with a lighter bag, and rarely carry it now, but still walk when I don't have to be 100% on my game, just use a trolley rather than carry. I do finish a round a bit stiff and sore, but it's worth it. Even though, after eighteen holes, with my back hurting and the effects of 30 years of tobacco, I think I'm gonna die, I can't think of a better place to do that than on the course...
I occasionally I play with a young lady who recovered from a coma after a car accident that left her partially brain damaged, and who can't walk very well, or for very long. Reminds me of how lucky I am.

Yes broken tibia just above ankle on left foot.
Injury happened july 2017...I’m still in recovery mode.
Hoping to get some more PT soon and get some athletic movement back.

    Cheers,

  15. Parkinson’s is my nemesis. Trying to keep the end of the club steady before taking it back and just teeing up the ball can be a chore. Thanks to my martini tees and golf cart. Trying to play as much as I can when I get the chance .

Had my C3/C4/C5 removed and cadaver bone plus 6 titanium screws added to my portfolio a couple years back. Took a bit of distance off my game which stinks because I’m getting older too.

Plans to go all out with exercise and stretching the winter since that’s pretty much all you can do in Michigan.

    Here’s to a better 2019
  17. Hey Ralph, I know where your at... to a certain extent. I have what they refer to as Essential Tremor. Similar symptoms

as yours but certainly with your serious implications. Makes my hands look like the yips! Am 65 now and have been

dealing with it for 30 plus years. Causes anxious and frustrating moments but after 30 years of compensations I just roll

with it. Weighted putter head and shaft, larger grips, and lower expectations keep me playing as much as I can. Keep

    fighting and keep playing!
  18. TUser, it’s always good to hear from people with similar symptoms, it makes you feel not alone and not broken. Just keep moving and smile while your out playing cause it beats sitting in a chair! My buddies don’t cut me any slack either, wouldn’t have it any other way. Turned a negative into a positive, started PUTTS FORE PD. A small non profit group raising money for the Michael J.Fox Foundation. Our first year 2018, we sold out in 3 weeks-144+ golfers and gave the foundation a check for $10,000. Going to try and do 2 flights next year. Don’t let this get you down , know it’s only one more challenge we have as we strive towards that perfect round. Keep swinging and keep in touch.

59 years old here, have had both shoulders done, rotator cuff surgeries. This summer injured left shoulder while kayaking, a few weeks later, I broke ribs on the right side. Still sore today. Hard to make a "real" turn.

43 and occasional stiff back and neck from playing. Nothing serious, but I need to rest it from time to time. I'll probably still play this weekend.

The 3 broken ribs, factured fibula and ulna, and a split forefinger are not lingering. C5-C6 narrowing only prevents me from carrying bricks. The ankle swelling as a result of a vascular response to the fibula doesn't hamper me but may have resulted in a minor PE event. But an ITB injury 6 months ago is really getting annoying by not healing and encourages swing faults by restricting me from a full weight transfer to my forward leg.
  22. Just found out this morning I need a double Hip replacement
Then went out with a couple of pals and hit a gross four over ( net six under )
Where has that round been hiding all summer???

Have the operations this winter then spring regaining a swing and then next summer firing on all cylinders...at least that is the plan!!
