T-Series Irons
3D Check-Up

The Titleist 3D Check-Up is a quick and easy way to evaluate whether your irons are helping you get the most out of your game. We traveled to Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club with Andy Proudman and Piers Ward of “Me And My Golf” to break the tests in with a group of Broken Tee Society members ranging from scratch players to 15 handicaps.

What We Learned

Each player went through the full diagnostic, guided by Piers and Andy with support from the Titleist Fit Crew. The outcome was consistent: every golfer discovered immediate ways to improve the fit of their irons.

In each case, performance improved—ball speed gaps became more consistent, dispersion became more predictable, and descent angles became more playable. The differences were measurable and, for many, surprising.

Even players who felt their current sets were performing well discovered how much room there was to improve—without changing their swings.

Are Your Irons Working For You?

A Titleist 3D Check-Up is a simple way to evaluate whether your irons are helping you get the most out of your game. It’s a diagnostic tool based on the three key factors that define successful iron play for any player: Distance Control, Dispersion Control, and Descent Angle.

Why It Matters

The overall performance of your irons is directly tied to how well each club transitions from one to the next. If your set is not properly balanced there will be gaps in your game that you will be forced to play around. Is there a club or yardage you tend to avoid? The 3Ds can help fix that.

How it Works

You’ll hit 3-5 shots with your current 7i, 5i, and 4i. Using a launch monitor your fitter will look at:

  • Distance Control – Looking for flatline ball speed with each club, with a 5-mph gap between irons.

  • Dispersion Control – Ensuring your shot pattern is relatively tight and predictable for each iron.

  • Descent Angle – Seeking a land angle of around 45-50 degrees with each club to ensure effective stopping power on the green.

Think of these like a group of check engine lights on your car. If you’re not hitting these performance benchmarks that signals that you could benefit from making an adjustment or change to one or more of your irons. Improve your fit and you can improve your play.

See for Yourself

If you want to perform a simple 3D Check-Up of your own, Andy and Piers are here to guide you through a method of assessing the basic 3D performance of your irons without using a launch monitor.
