Field Notes from the 145th Open Championship

In 2016 and for as long as records have been kept, Titleist is once again the #1 ball at the Open Championship. This week, 94 players in the field are trusting a Titleist Pro V1 or Pro V1x golf ball for their success at Royal Troon - more than five times the nearest competitor with 17 and more than all competitors combined.

Titleist is also the top choice among players in the hybrids (12) as well as the irons (34) categories. Titleist Vokey Design Wedges also topped the approach, sand and lob wedge category with 122 wedges in play.

Among the players relying on a Titleist golf ball this week is the defending Open champion, Zach Johnson (Pro V1x), who captured the Claret Jug last year at St. Andrew's. After two solid rounds to start his championship defense, Zach currently sits at 5-under-par, positioning himself squarely on the first page of the leaderboard.

As Johnson knows from his prior Open experiences, the weather always plays a factor here in Scotland and the conditions can turn on a dime.

"This is a tournament where you can see three or four seasons in ten, eleven holes. I think you just have to embrace it and accept it and maybe even appreciate it to a degree over here. The morning could be brutal and the afternoon could simmer down and vice versa. You just don't know. But you've got to be prepared for anything."

The weekend forecast calls for showers, wind and cooler temperatures, so keep an eye on those players who embrace the conditions and don't allow the weather to dampen their spirits.

Enjoy all the action this weekend and good luck to all of #TeamTitleist!
