Smith and Blixt Lead 5-Win Week for Titleist Golf Ball Players

It was a banner week for Titleist around the globe as Titleist Brand Ambassadors and golf ball loyalists combined for five titles across the worldwide professional tours.

Leading the way, the team of Titleist Brand Ambassador Cameron Smith (Pro V1x) and Titleist golf ball loyalist Jonas Blixt (Pro V1x) captured the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, the first official team event on the PGA Tour since 1981. Smith and Blixt prevailed in a four-hole Monday playoff to seize the victory.

On the European Tour, Titleist golf ball loyalist Alexander Levy (Pro V1x) also won in playoff fashion, topping fellow Titleist golf ball loyalist Dylan Frittelli (Pro V1) with a birdie on the first extra hole.

It also took a playoff to decide matters on the LPGA Tour, where Titleist golf ball loyalist Haru Nomura (Pro V1x) two-putted for birdie on the sixth extra hole to top fellow Titleist golf ball loyalist Cristie Kerr (Pro V1) at the Volunteers of America Texas Shootout.

Rounding out this week's action, Titleist golf ball loyalist Shiv Kapur (Pro V1x) captured the Yeangder Heritage for his second career Asian Tour title.

And in South Africa, Titleist golf ball loyalist Oliver Bekker (Pro V1) collected his fifth career Sunshine Tour title at the Zambia Sugar Open.

Shiv Kapur (Winner): Titleist Pro V1x golf ball

“This is a welcome relief. It’s really given me a new lease on life. I’m looking forward to the rest of the year now.”

These were the words of Titleist golf ball loyalist Shiv Kapur (Pro V1x) shortly after he captured the Yeangder Heritage for his second career Asian Tour title and his first in over a decade.

Kapur closed with a bogey free 8-under-par 64 in Miaoli, Chinese Taipe en route to a 16-under-par 272 victory total, two shots clear of two players, including Titleist golf ball loyalist Yikuen Chang (Pro V1x).

Kapur, 35, won his first Asian Tour title in his Rookie year in 2005 at the Volvo Masters of Asia. Since then he has finished runner-up four times and third three times as well as posting another 21 top-10 finishes.

This week, Kapur topped a leaderboard that included seven Titleist players among the top 10 finishers.

TITLEIST BY THE NUMBERS

 Titleist was the overwhelming field favorite in golf balls at the Yeangder Heritage with 97 players in the field trusting a Pro V1 or Pro V1x for their success, more than four times the nearest competitor with 22.

Titleist Vokey Design wedges were also the top choice among players with 120 Vokey wedges in the field.

Oliver Bekker (Winner): Titleist Pro V1 golf ball

Titleist golf ball loyalist Oliver Bekker (Pro V1) closed with a one-under-par 72 to clinch his fifth career Sunshine Tour title at the Zambia Sugar Open.

Bekker posted a 19-under-par 273 victory total, two shots clear of fellow Titleist golf ball loyalist Jared Harvey (Pro V1).

Danie van Tonder (Pro V1) claimed solo third, three shots back.

Titleist Brand Ambassadors Christiaan Basson (Pro V1x) and Keenan Davidse (Pro V1x) finished joint fifth at 14-under-par, as each of the top three finishers and five of the six who finished among the top five and ties relied upon Titleist golf balls for their success.

TITLEIST BY THE NUMBERS

 At the Zambia Sugar Open, Titleist was the overwhelming top choice in golf balls with 111 players in the field of 144 relying on a Pro V1 or Pro V1x golf ball, more than five times the nearest competitor with 22.
