I did not think it would ever happen for me

It was 33 years in the making. Thousands of rounds, tens of thousands of holes played. I have hit the pin numerous times. I have had shots stop 2 inches directly in front of the pin. I have had balls stop an inch behind the hole with no reasonable explanation of how it didn't drop in the hole. So when I pured my Titleist 962 6-iron on hole #8 at Otter Creek Golf Course, I knew it would be close, but I did not believe my playing partner when he told me it went in the hole! I had reconciled within myself that it would just never happen. I informed my friend that the ball must be behind the pin and on a small downslope. We just couldn't see it. After all, I wasn't ever going to have an ace. As we walked to the green, I moved to the side to see beyond the flag. My partner asked if I saw a ball, and when I said, "no." He said, "that's because it's in the hole!" When we arrived at the green, I tiptoed to the hole, and, finally, saw my Titleist Pro V-1 #3, with a black dot, in the bottom of the cup! Hallelujah! The golf gods can be cruel, but even they took pity today and smiled!
