This year's honoree at The Memorial is Pro V1 loyalist Tom Watson, a living golf legend who continues to compete at the highest levels in golf at age 62.  Most recently, Watson captured the 2011 Senior PGA Championship, his sixth senior major.  In 2009, he nearly pulled off one of the all-time great stories in sports when he came within a hair of claiming his sixth Open Championship title.  Watson headed to the 72nd hole at Turnberry with a one-stroke lead. After a near-perfect drive, his 8-iron approach hit the front of the green but bounded forward and through the green, from where he was unable to get up and down.  He lost in a four-hole playoff, but the 2009 British Open will always be remembered for Watson's grace in defeat and what almost was.  Tom Watson has 39 PGA Tour victories to his credit, including 8 major titles, as well as 14 Champions Tour titles to date.
