I know I should get fit, but a new 910D2 is a little steep at this point.  I currently have a G15 12 degree stock soft 52 g shaft I got a year and a half ago.  I'm working hard on core conditioning and getting (better) extension since then and I'm getting some ballooning.  I have an opportunity on a 10.5 909D2 with a Bassara 45 shaft (high flight) at a reasonable price.  I can try it for 7 days, but I'd be out shipping if I return it.  My head speed was 82-84 (not sure what it is up to now, doubt more than 90). My ball flight is fairly straight as long as I don't dip my shoulder.  My scatter is from a small fade to a small draw.

Any educated guesses on whether it would be worth my while to give it a try?  Otherwise, I'd try to wait until the next gen driver comes out.

    Don,

You always want to make sure you are investing your money into a driver that has the correct specs for you (whatever model that may be).  I would recommend trying out that shaft and working with a Club Fitter in your area, so that you can determine the right flex and if that shaft is right for you.  below are a couple Fitting Centers that will be able to take a look at your ball flight and club head speed to make a great recommendation.

I already have 912 AP1/910F (2) and Vokey Wedges (3), all fitted by Cherokee. I wasn't getting good recommendations from big box stores, so I tried the best rated club Pro Shop.  No disappointment there.  Just ran short of the $400 after new irons and fairways for a driver.  Love my set as it is, just not as certain with the driver.

The reality is if the shaft needs changing, the $100 club goes over $200 in a hurry, and the loft may not optimal.  I'll just have to wait to next year for a driver.  Hopefully the 912/913 series will provide the same support at the start for the middling sort that the 910 series expanded to this year (like 12 degrees and A flex shafts).  Can't wait for the thaw to get the A-flex AP1s off the range.  I've been gun shy of carrying a 5I but this is flying so well, I might even think about getting a 4I instead of getting a 27 degree hybrid.

Thanks for the feedback, Cameron.  If anyone in Wisconsin needs a good fitter, Cherokee is worth the drive.
