When the 714's are released I will be getting fitted for a new set, but for now I would like to purchase driver, 3 wood, 5, wood.  Would it be wise to wait to get fitted all at once?  If I go for the woods now, irons later, will there be an extra fitting charge or did I read right and see that fitting charges are not applied if purchasing the clubs upon the fitting?  Thanks for the help!

    Curtis,

If you are looking for new metal woods now, you don't necessarily need to wait to get fit for the full bag (woods and irons).  Fitting fees    are determined by the Golf Shop and Fitter that you work with.  Some places charge flat rate fitting fees and other facilities may offer to apply the fitting fee towards a the items purchased following the fitting.

If it's possible, choose either an Advanced Fitting Center, or a Regional Fitting Center. They'll have TONS more shafts, heads, and more than likely, use real Pro V1's (or Titleist ball to your liking). Also, they usually fit outdoors, which is better than hitting inside at some simulator. Like Cam said, they could charge a flat rate, etc.. Sometimes they'll charge separately for woods, irons, wedges, putter, etc.. However, most Regional/Advanced centers are cool and will help you out to the fullest.

Good luck with everything and be sure to let us know how your fitting went!

Thanks for the help!!  Problem with the regional centers though is that they are extremely far away.  Even the closest advanced center is over 2 hours, but I am thinking well worth the drive.    And I agree with the outdoor part, but I will be planning on going probably in January (pending the 714 release).   So an indoor place will probably be preferred.   But again, thanks!

The drive would be worth it.

Call around. Some places have like a "garage" type fitting area. Come winter, for some of us folks that deal with the white stuff every year, they'll open the "garage" door, and you'll be hitting golf balls "outside". Most of them are well heated. Some have sod that they use, or realistic type hitting mats. Best of all, you'll get to see your true ball flight, while seeing your numbers on a launch monitor. Another good perk is the fact that most of the better fitting places use Trackman.

I am also planning on doing the same, woods now and 714 irons later, I was told not to for the reason of possibly having to large of a gap between clubs. Does that make sense and how to go about getting the woods now without having issues with irons later? What/where should I look at before buying? Thanks Rick

I wouldn't worry about it. Get the woods now, then, when you go to get fitted for your 714 irons, take the woods with you, and compare distance gaps. With the Sure-Fit settings on the woods, and the custom options for the irons, your Titleist fitter can dial in your distance gaps to a "t", to your liking.

Maybe a dumb question, but if you buy the woods now and 5 months later at a fitting your fitter says a different shaft would be better, isnt there a pretty big mark up in price for purchasing just a shaft compared to purchasing that shaft when you purchase the club?    Thanks again for the help!
