  1. I have a D3 8.5 Driver with Diamani Whiteboard Stiff Shaft 45" set at C4 which makes it 9.25 and .75 Flat. What is the swing weight of my D3 Driver?  If I were to shorten the shaft 1 inch what would that do to the swing weight?  The reason I ask is that I just switched from a Cobra 350 CC  9.5 Degree head driver with 44" Shaft and the Titleist D3 feels heavy.

  2. If you shorten one inch you will experience about 3-4 swing weight s less...

Your swingweight is about a D4.  Depending on the balance of the shaft, every 1/2 inch is equivalent to 2-3 swingweights, so you will be taking off about 5-6 swingweights.  If you like the length at 45, you may want to try a lighter weight or if you do want it shorter, you might try cutting it 1/2 inch to start because its much easier to cut more than to add.

Cathi great points....especially the one about only taking off 1/2" to start...always easier to cut more than add later....1/2" is a lot in terms of feel anyways...try it!

    Cathi,

I have 913 D3 7.5 drive that I just shortened by a 1/2 inch.  It did reduce the swingweight to D1 which doesn't bother me but I have noticed a little bit of drop in my trajectory/ball flight.  Would adding lead tape to the rear of clubhead help raise trajectory or do I need to replace the weight in the clubhead?  Or, am I wrong and neither will help with increasing trajectory.

It is possible to see a slight drop in trajectory and it could be due to the length, the swingweight, or change in angle of attack - it is hard to say.  Here are some options.  Put the setting in D4 - if that works and you achieve what you were looking for by cutting it 1/2 inch - all set....., option two - try hitting it a little more forward in your stance, option three, switch the bezel weight or add lead tape and see if that makes a difference.
