  1. Hi, has anyone had any joy with Titleist on damaged balls? had a fresh Pro v1x out of the box and a few holes in a chunk out of the cover had come away. no cart paths or anything just fairways and greens.

just curious of how they respond to it?

NO, but there are rocks that balls can hit in the fairways that are hidden. Have been playing them for many many years and never had a damaged "new ball out of the box".

I would save it and if it happened to several in the box, it might be worth talking to Customer Service. Having hit hundreds of ProV1 and PProV1x its hard for me to imagine finding a defect where a "chunk of the ball" came off. Yes, I have seen new wedges cut a thin piece off the dimples or a bladed wedge leave a mark or a tree or rock making a mark. The way the balls are manufactured, the covers are two piece with a seam so the problematic area would be a seam separation, not a large piece of cover ripping loose. Not seeing a picture also makes it difficult to guess your problem but most likely it has hit something around a green or fairway, maybe a sprinkler head? These balls have the greatest quality control in the industry but are not indestructible by us mere mortals.
