You will find a couple of different recent threads on this discussion. Titleist experts recommend sticking with the same ball just like you see professionals doing as they adjust for different courses they play year round and around the world. They adjust clubs, not balls. Some people still like to change, as that is a personal choice you have but I personally do not like the adjustments that have to be made in the short game and putting feel.

Don’t normally change to a lesser ball, but lucky enough to have been given some logo balls through work contacts. Hate big logos on balls when playing comps, and normally play a yellow ball anyway, so use these in winter.

Sometimes will play about with balls -AVX- V1X - during winter to see if there is noticeable difference- extra carry is helpful on soggy fairways

I used to use some of the premium balls I had saved as practice balls once they had a few scratches on and were cosmetic on the cover- again wouldn’t use these for comps

I agree with Dale. I have experimented with a different ball during the Winter months in the past, but keep returning to my prime ball, AVX.

I do. I change balls to a lesser premium Titleist ball in the winter months. I treat these months as "practice" rounds and play with whatever suits me for that day. No sense in losing a good ProV1x in the leaves or snow bank.

It makes sense to stick to the same ball.

I believe the cold effects distance but is it truly the ball or other factors i.e. clothing layers, tight muscles, heavy fairways, etc...? Losing a premuim ball in the fall leaves is always tough to swallow though!!

I don’t necessarily switch balls, but fall and spring golf in the northeast often has conditions soft and very conducive to losing a ball hit in the fairway. Because of this I keep a collection of “generation 2” balls, poor enough condition to never be used in a prime time round, but not beat up enough to hit away into a field. So my Pro V1 may not change, but it usually is a scuffed up one a year or two old.

When I lived in Texas and played year round, I played the Pro V1 throughout the year. Now that I live in Wyoming and have a much shorter season, plus colder conditions in early Spring and late Fall, I swap out to a ball like the Tour Speed. I was able to buy some at closeout pricing which made loosing one in the leaves (even in a fairway) a lot less painful. I didn't even know about Model Local Rule F-14 until I moved up here.

When the weather changes here in north Jersey, and the leaves start falling and accumulating, I make several gear adjustments that include playing balls I don’t mind loosing so much.

I'm a big believer in sticking with the same ball, but its windy in the winter here and a lot of guys will switch from ProV1 or ProV1X to AVX because of the softer compression with a slower winter swing and wanting a more penetrating ball flight.

I play with a different, less expensive ball durning the fall leaf season. Once the leaves are gone then I go back to my normal ball.
