  1. Can anyone provide me a timeline of the “formula” changes to these balls over the last 4 years? Seems like at one point their purposes flip flopped? Or so a Titleist rep told me once. I’ve got some 2021 ProV1’s that I played with last week. Was getting more distance with my irons than I did with 2023 ProV1x. Almost 10-15 yards on average. Trying to sort it all out.

Can't remember the exact time. It was quite a while back, maybe 3 generation models ago where ProV1x became the high flight, high spin ball. While distance is important, some people would give up a few yards for higher flight and green holding spin. Just depends on the person, the course conditions, and their ball flight. I personally would always recommend doing an on-course testing of the ProV1 and ProV1x every two years as the new versions are released just to make sure you play what works best for you, not just because it was the model you always played. Good luck and feel free to donate to Goodwill those boxes on the right. Don't shoot the messenger. :)

Guessing it was the 2017 release that the X became the higher flight ball. Consistent since then.

The V or the X may be longer for an individual, but no one ball is longer for everyone. The 2023 V may still be your best choice for distance.

Just not the balls from membership club.

Looks to me like you play a lot of different brands. Maybe someone else answer that for you. I personally like the 2023 Prov1 ball over the 2021.
