I may be way off but I was wondering if one would play better if all of their shaft lengths were the same 3-PW?? I was reading a website and it seemed to make sense but was wondering if this was a pipe dream or reality?? Please reply before I spend a lot of money in 2012. Thank you and great site

The idea behind 1 iron golf is to have 1 swing for all clubs, with a standard set even though your swing may feel the same it is different.

So you get all the irons made like the club you hit best.

But because of loft, each club performs best when hitting the ball at different angles of decent. For example, the 3 iron should be near a sweep and the PW should be coming down on the ball more. You can't make good contact with a 3i when swinging it like a PW.

With a standard set the shaft length and the lie angle are matched with the clubhead so that your swing will feel the same but bring the clubhead into the ball at the correct angle of decent.

So I don't think it would be a good idea.

I visited One Iron Golf some time ago. Wouldn't feel comfortable hitting a PW with the same length and lie as an 8 iron. OK with 9 iron and wedges being same length (that was in my old set of irons that I constructed - I had them all set at 64.5 lie angle and 35.5" and they worked OK; the 9 iron had a light grip on it). I asked them if they intended on making hybrids - their response was negative (I found the ideal hybrid at the time was 38" with a lie angle of 61*). Along the same lines, I tried one of those F squared wedges about 3 years ago (never made it to the golf course - returned). They are very difficult to hit. Of any of the odd-ball clubs, an "approach" hybrid is pretty slick. I currently have a 34* persimmon (had a Snake Eyes Q3A 34 and 38 before since 2006). Pretty handy for plowing out of the rough and if you want to drop the ball on a dime from 130-150 yards. I still carry a 6 and 7 iron because they work better off tight lies but have to admit the 34H is less work.
