I was recently fitted and the results were overwhelmingly for the CB's.  Because I was only able to hit the 6-iron I was wondering if splitting a set CB's (6-3) and MB's (PW-7) would be the way to go.  I loved the CB's but would having MB's in the lower irons improve accuracy or not?

I have that exact set in my bag and it really makes a difference having the MBs in your 7-PW. You might look for a Titleist fitting center that has all the shafts and heads so you can get a good feel for the MBs. I went to the Jim McLean facility and felt like I was treated like a tour pro for my fitting. They really understand shaft dynamics for each individual

What shafts worked best for you. I have a 87 mph 6-iron swing speed and like to flight the ball low (yet another reason I'm thinking MB's in the lower irons for the supposedly lower flight).  When I was fitted I liked the feel of the KBS Tours but had approximately 10 yards further distance with the TT Dynamic Gold XP.

You can still find the Titleist 735CM sets out there. The perfect blend of cavity and muscle back clubs, as well as one of the prettiest sets of clubs you'll every find. Take a look at a set, I'm sure you can find them at a great price since they're several years older now.

It's true sometimes, "they just don't make them like they used to"!

I switched to a set of 735 CM's earlier this year from 690 MB's and have played worse actually. For some reason, no confidence in anything below the 8 iron (makes no sense at all since i went that route for the forgiveness of the cavity back). Just got a new set of 690 MB's again today. The 735 CM's are great looking but I just have no confidence in them.

I also had a split set of CB and MB's, though this was back pre-735.  I loved the make up of the set and hit them GREAT.  The only issue I had, and it was particular to the sets of 695's were that the sole width of the CB's were a little wider than the MB's.  In the 735's, it was a consistent progression, and I liked that better.  I currently play the AP 2's.  Love them.  The MB/CB question is great and I found that a combination of shaft, and age (mine) the AP's launched higher for me, which I needed.  I agree with the other guy who said fitting is the key to a combo set.   I had mine fit at the TPI, and  would recommend it heartily.  The MB/CB's look so good they almost look like art and not golf clubs, but my own experience is that launch and spin were better achieved for me with the AP's, so score won out over ego.  That said, nothing beats the MB short irons for working the ball into pins in the corners, and that is exactly where I found the combo set useful.  So bottom line, I say go for it, as long as you get fitted by a fitter who knows your game, shot shape likes and dislikes, and needs.
