I currently game the Hogan Edge GCD Midsize with the Apex 4 steel shafts.  These were made in the later 90's and I was thinking about upgrading.  I currently hit the ball pretty high with my full shots, but I tend to play mostly knockdowns on the golf course.  These clubs are great and I really don't have much to complain about except maybe for the high ball flight which really doesn't hurt me too much.  They have the look of a better players cavity back iron except for the bigger blade size.  I am torn between the the Titleist CB's and AP2's.  I am looking for something that is workable both ways and up and down.  Has anyone had experience they could share with the workability of both of these irons?  Forgiveness?  Advantages of one over the other?  I have tried both irons at my local retailer on mats and a launch monitor but I know that I really need to test them of the turf. I love the feel of both of the irons but I am leaning towards the CB's for the alleged ease of workability.  I currently shoot in the mid to upper 80's for 18 holes if that helps.  Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

  2. The AP2 irons would probably be the best way to go

  3. I have the AP2's 712 and they are amazing...I have only owned 3 sets of golf clubs over 30 years and this was my 4th set...definitely the best yet!  I went with stock DG TI shafts...could not believe the workability and softness at impact!

Joe. I would also consider looking at the AP1 but between the cb and ap2 I would say the ap2 are more workable with a higher ball flight, in my opinion. Personnaly the cb for me were not as workable. Good Luck

Based on the info. you have given, I would recommend AP1 or AP2. If there is any workability compromise by hitting one of these irons, it is made up for in forgiveness. Depending on how many days a week you are able to play, playing one of the AP irons will give you the ability to enjoy your 18 holes to it's fullest. Hope it helps. Hit em straight.

  6. i currently play the AP2 712 and i absolutely love them. It's not too often you hit an iron that is extremely forgiven and very workable. I am a 7 handicap and even if you do mis hit them, you only lose 3-5 yards in distance. I like you, hit the ball very high and these have helped tone that down alittle, but i still hit the ball high which is a good thing. I have also hit the Cb's multiple times and i noticed that they are much lighter than the AP2's. Your best bet is to probably go get fitted and make your descision based on the help and influence from the Titleist Rep. Its mostly personal opinion as to which you feel would help you play your best.

  7. I would suggets the CB´s, i just got them annd they are AMAZING!

High penetrating flight med just enough spin to stop. Great clubs, workable but easy to get up and running.
