Does anyone know how much more forgiving the 714 AP2 will be compared to the 712 AP2.  Im currently playing png s59 blades and am looking for something more forgiving.  I don't know if i should pull the trigger on the 712's or wait another year for the 714's.  thanks

I imagine that they will be more forgiving.  Every time they release a new product, the technology is better so that allows them to be more forgiving.  I would say that they will be more forgiving, but that will be truly up to you on how much more they are.  However I know the AP2's will be a lot more forgiving that your S59's.  If I were you I would take advantage of the AP'2s now, but I hate waiting for stuff!  Best of luck!

How much do you worry about the next cycle of PCs being better than what is on the shelf today?  You can still get a full season out of the 712s.  If you can demo a 712 AP2 against your current, and it feels good and hits easier - why wait until next year?  In general, irons have incremental improvement from cycle to cycle.

If this was September and you only had another 4-5 rounds this year, then waiting could be worth it.

I agree with Don 110%. The 714's (if there is such a thing coming next year) might be a little bit more forgiving, but probably not by much, and why go through another year with your old clubs, when you could be playing the best this year. Get fitted for the 712's and buy them now and you won't be sorry.

i totally agree I just got fitted and love my new 712 ap2 .I was a first time buyer meaning I bought a generic set to start and this was my first real set , so you can't go wrong.

If your looking for more forgiveness, go to a Titleist fitter, and also try hitting the 712 AP1's. and compair them to the AP2's. You might like them even better. And I would still encourage you to get the 712's now. If you wait for the 714's becaues they might be better, then you could think the 716's might be even better yet, and think about all the rounds of good golf you could be playing now with the best clubs on the market. Just be sure to get fitted for the wright club, and shaft for you, and you won't be sorry, and then you'll forget all about the 714's.  Just my 2 pennies worth, and I'll see you in the fairway with your new treasures.

Titleist has a demo days in two weeks about 40 mins from my house that i plan on attending.  I also am interested in checking out some Vokey wedges.

    • "forgiving" is  marketing term IMO. My mishits on the 712 MB's are better than the png ansers I played.....dispersion is better as is distance.....in my experience, "forgiving" is a load of hooey

Is a pro looking forward to Augusta in 2014? No way! He wants to win next week. So get the 712s now, play your best now and enjoy golf every day this year. You shouldn't be looking down the road. The 712s are outstanding irons. Get fitted with the right shaft and swing away!

    I'm playing my Ap1 710s right now but I have Ap2 712s I'm transitioning in to I love the 8 iron in ap2.

Get fitted and play the 712 they are well worth it.

I also agree that - with the entire season ahead of you, get the clubs that give you what you are looking for now instead of waiting for something that may or may not be better for you next year.

I hear what your saying about not waiting until next year.  Tomorrow isn't promised to any of us.  I'm new to titleist and until last year didn't know they alternated years for new irons and drivers.

I bought my s59's in 2005 and hadn't even thought of new clubs until last year as i wasn't improving my scores with the blades.  It took a while until i finally admitted my game isn't good enough for blades.  I guess this made me wonder if the new  714 Ap2s might be even more forgiving.

I didn't know if there are ever years that the new models aren't as good as the previous edition or are they always better.  The 712's seem to have pretty good reviews almost everywhere  i look and just didn't know how much better the potential 714's could be.
