50 is a good choice.   If you use the 50 primarily on the fairway or for pitching and chipping, 50-08 is pretty much a widespread choice.    50-10 is if you want to use it in soft bunkers for long shots.

54-11 is a logical choice for a sand wedge.

My AP1 PW is set to 46*.  I have Vokey SM4 54-11 and 60-10 bent 1*strong (53 and 59) and a 64-07.  Keep in mind this is what works for me.   I've played 50-08, 54-14 and 60-10 before with good results.    I don't carry a gap wedge to simplify the top end and I am pretty adept at working a PW.

Have a fitter assist you in wedge choices.

50 or 52 would be a good option.  I think the best bounce option for versatility as far as bounce goes would be around 8* depending on what they have available for the loft you go with.  

It depends on what distance you want it to go. I carry a 52, 8 degree bounce. I hit that about 105 yards. I used to carry a 50 degree I don't know what the bounce is, but my 50 degree went 110 yards. I don't know if this helps but I love my 52.

I found my ideal gap wedge is 51-09.  This is achieved by bending a 50-08 1* weak.  This loft and bounce is that of a DCI 981 W.  Has enough bounce for long bunker shots but not too much bounce for picking the ball off the fairway.

I also bent a 52-12 1* strong to 51-11.  Had to play more of a digging shot.

What I'm doing at this point is using a 54-11 bent to 53 for sake of simplicity in the wedge setup.  It works very well for me. Had the same score as last time on the South Course (+3) but hit two less greens and the sand wedge took care of a couple par saves today.

That's about right for distance difference.  It is about 5 yards for every 2* of loft change.

I've used a sand wedge of 54 or 55 for a long time now.  A 56 doesn't quite do it for me.   So my gap wedge has been around 50 or 51.  Like I say my sand wedge is now 53 for sake of simplicity.   Between 2009-2011 didn't carry a gap wedge because my DIY iron set didn't contain one.   The interesting thing is that a game improvement PW (such as the Snake Eyes Q3I, the Eye 2 or the AP1) works well for long bunker shots.  I also used the 50-08 as a pitching wedge when I had Eye 2 irons because it worked better than the W; used the 9 iron (45*) for bump n run shots.

The salesman at the PGA Superstore said I should have  degrees between wedges but I am not sure I agree. Seems like a big gap to me. Im going to pick up a 50.08 vokey....yee ha!!

Tim, numerically-wise, yes, a 50 would be the next closest lofted club for you; however, it may not be necessary. Let me explain. I have a Vokey SM4 46.08, and an SM4 52.08. My gap is 6 degrees because my distance when I tried a 50* was only a few yards shorter than my 46. My 46 I hit around 112-120, and my 52 I hit 100 to 110. I also have a 60* (no 56*) because I can hit the 60 about 100 yards and in. Check out the Vokey wedge selection guide, and that will give you more information. You usually want anywhere from a 4 to 6 degree difference between your wedges. I know I have an 8 degree difference between my 52 and 60, but I have no problems or gaps between them.

I briefly played with AP1 PW, SM4 52-12 and 60-10 (the AP1 bent to 46 and the others bent 1* strong). I didn't really consider the distance gap between the 52 and 60 because I seldom hit full swing shots with a lob wedge.  I had a 15 yard gap between the PW (105) and the 52 (90).

With my current setup (46* AP1 PW and the SM4 54-11 and 60-10 1* strong), the distances are 105, 85 and 65 on full swings with 80, 55 and 40 on full pitches.  I prefer to pitch a PW vs taking a full swing with the SW and LW; much less work. 

Our games seem very similar. I will take this to the store today and see what the rep says. Thank you
