Steve; I had the same problem with 3&5 woods. Could hit them fairly well but only got line drives with them. I'm now hitting a 17* 4 wood, and 22* 7 wood. Just those few extra degreese's of loft made all the differance in the world. Now I'm hitting the 4 wood higher and longer than my 3 wood, and the 7 wood is like hitting a mid iron, only a lot longer.

The Fd/Hd have some weight moved forward for workability and more pnenetrating flight. Would tend to aggrevate your issue. The F/H have more weight lower and further back to improve ball launching. Agree with Norris on moving down to 4/7 if 3/5 is difficult. Make sure it is not your swing - better to hit it more like an iron than driver, especially off of turf.

Hello Steve,
The "d" models, fairway woods and hybrids, have the weight on the bottom moved forward which, as I understand it, helps to keep the ball flight down for a more boring trajectory.
Good luck

Found the following article online...and should give you the information you're looking for...
Hope that helps?
Personally...for my game, I'm more of a "F" kinda guy, as I'm more likely to hit a 3-wood off the fairway MORE than say the tee-box!

The f and the h would promote a higher trajectory while the fd and hd promote less spin and lower trajectory. Fd and hd are probay more for high speed players that need to keep trajectory down. The f and the h are also probably easier to hit off the turf.
