44.50 inch driver shaft

    Hi

    I am playing a 915D2 with a 45.00 inch shaft. I am considering taking 0.5 inch of the shaft.

    Can I have my local clubfitter cut of 0.5 inch, or will it change the flex of the shaft?

    It'll change the swingweight by 3 points. You could add 6 grams of weight to the head or use a lighter grip such as the Winn Excel RF.

    1/2" won't change the flex. 1" or 1 1/2" will stiffen it a little bit.

    It definitely will affect the swing weight and to a certain degree the stiffness of the shaft.

    Hi Michael,

    Cutting 1/2" off your driver should not change flex a noticeable amount; however, it will reduce swing weight by about three points. To maintain consistent feel we would recommend having your builder install a 14 gram weight to make up for the reduction in length.
