After many months/years struggling to hit a hybrid, the Titleist Surefit system has provided the cure. I've tried multiple hybrids and hit a bad hook with all of them. I spent some time at the range trying all of the settings before dialing in the Titleist hybrid to the C4 setting (which is adding 1* loft and open face). The yardage is consistent and the ball flight is what I've been hoping for with a hybrid.

Very interesting. I thought the C1 setting (-1° and more fade) is the right anti-hook choice.

When looking at the chart, you're right that the C1 setting would seem the "most" anti-hook choice but for some reason, I had better success with the 1* higher launch at C4.

I bought a used 915 Hd (2 iron) to try as I’ve always hooked rescues and the surefit system has cured it!
Perfectly bridges the gap between my 3 iron and 3 wood now I’ve got it in the bag! I’ve got mine set to C1

No hooks anymore since the 818h1. Can’t wait to test the new TS2 hybrids.

Thanks for the info Michael.I just bought an 818 H2, (Evenflow 85 blue shaft). Although I hit it solid most of the time, I do tend to hook it a little more than I'd like. I think I'll try one of the fade settings.

    Thanks
  7. man...you guys are really gona get me to a titleist thursday and have me buy a hybrid huh...i've been thinking about trying them out again since i've heard good things and absolutely love my ts3....these forums are dangerous.
  8. I switched the the 818h2 this year from my longtime Taylomade Rocektballz Stage 2 tour and I love the 818s! I’ll have to tweak with the setup as when I try the 19* off the tee I do get the hooks. But with the 21* from the fairways no issues. Thanks for sharing.

Another thing that helps tremendously with hooking the hybrid is ball position. Hybrids are meant to be played more like an iron than a fairway wood which means that they should be played more toward the middle of your stance instead of more forward like a fairway wood. I used to hook hybrids for years until I made that change. Now my hybrid is one of my favorite clubs.

That is true. I play my hybrids the same ball position as a 6 or 7 iron. I play a 17 more like a 7 wood.

C4 is 1* increase loft and 1* flat lie angle. The flat lie angle probably cured the hook. If the lie angle is too flat, you will fade no matter what the setting in loft is plus it is too difficult to hit. If the lie angle is too upright, you'll hook no matter what and it feels like you're burying the club. If it is just right, ball flight will change with loft and the hit will be more solid. I have a 913H 17* with what appears to be a standard length shaft (just got it since I had a gift card). I had to set it to A4 to get it to hit properly. I have an 816H1 25* set to 38.5". My best ball flight is A2 setting on most hybrids (I play them 1/2" shorter than standard with a 70g shaft). I went to a 70g shaft on my hybrids over 2 years ago because I tended to miss to the left if I happened to hit it a bit aggressive.
