Another nice thing about golf, the ability to set up your clubs for your own personal preference and style of play. I carry 6-PW with two hybrids but sometimes alternate with the longer irons if i am playing somewhere like Bandon Dunes where more punch shots and run ups are needed. I also normally just carry 13 clubs for the same reason you state above, not to be redundant between my 5 iron and higher lofted hybrid. If you carry like i do, pick one or the other based on course and conditions. If you ride, take them both so you still have options on the course. You might find even if they travel basically the same distance, the shot shape needed might force the club selection.

What Dale said, fit it to your game. I myself had a 5 iron and a 25* 818 hybrid and A. found out my numbers were better with the hybrid as was the ball flight.
