I have a set of T200's 6 to 48 wedge, my old set were 716 AP2's 4 to p/w. I'm interested to know if anyone is using a T200/T300 5 iron. My reasoning is that I took out my AP2 4 iron and replaced it with an equivalent Hybrid as I started to struggle with it. I'm now considering getting a T200/T300 5 iron as I know that they are more forgiving and easier to hit and get airbourn than my old AP2 4 iron. Has anyone found the benefits of the 5 iron over the AP2/T100 4 iron. I would be interested to know if anyone has had any similar issues.

I have a AP1 4 and 5 iron in my bag a 19° TS hybrid and 6-PW AP2. There is nothing better to hit a long iron into the green. Have never tried a T300 iron but should be even more forgiving like the AP1.

I played an AP3 4 and 5 iron in combo with my AP2 716s once the AP3s were released. (Prior to that I played an AP1 5i and an 816 hybrid.) I just got a new set of T200s from 5 iron to 48 in early October. I chose not to include the T200 4 iron in the new set because I love my custom spec'ed AP3 4 iron and hit it consistently well. Best 4 iron I have ever hit. The T200 4 iron may be just as good, but why risk it. I usually have a lot of confidence in that 4i so I figured, if it ain't broke.....well, you know. I had a 85 gram Kuro Kage shaft installed in the AP3 4, which was different from the rest of the set with TT AMTs in them. I went with AMTs again in my T200s.

I don't know about you, but for me the extra distance and forgiveness of either the AP3 or T200 4 iron is worth giving up a tiny bit of accuracy and work-ability of the AP2 4i. And I stress, a tiny bit. I can still draw my T200s just as much as ever, and can really hook one when I need to. I don't cut them as much when I try. But, that's just me.

I love the soft (forged) feel of the AP2, but in reality, it only feels that great when you hit it perfectly, which for me as a 5-6 handicapper, is not every time. So when I miss, I still get decent results with the AP3. (I assume I would with the T200 4i as well.) And looking down at the topline when addressing the ball looks just as good as it would with an AP2. You really can see no difference. The AP3 and the T200 are both sweet looking heads at address.

So, my OPINION is the T200 5 iron would be perfectly fine for you instead of another hybrid. I don't know your game, but my guess is that if you hit your AP2s well, then there is no reason you shouldn't hit the T200 5 iron as well or even better. And using an AP2 or T100 4 iron won't gain you any appreciable distance over the T200, unless you flush it every time. The T200 5 iron is 24*. The T100* is also 24*. Go for the extra forgiveness. Seems like a no-brainer...unless your ballstriking is so good that you don't need a little forgiveness. Mine's certainly not.
