  1. I personally love innovation, but when one uses a Armlock putter sparks controversy. I personally don't like Armlock because I think its uncomfortable to use,but if fitted for it it can be useful, but Ordinary joes using this only because KUCHER and Dechambeau using it doesn't make sense. What are your opinions and what other alternative putting styles should be banned. It would be cool to see opinions. :)

I don't like it as it takes the jitters out of the stroke and I don't see it any different than a belly putter jammed in your gut!

Agree with Todd. I think golf should be played only with the hands. I don't care if you use cross handed or overlapping or even that crazy claw grip but I think every stroke should require both hands touching each other in some fashion and the club not touching anything but your hands. I also would be in favor of a 38 inch putter limit since they have a driver length limit now. The only exception should be those people that have lost or lost use of one hand and can only play one handed. I know, old fashion ideas but that's me, just an old man who loves tradition.

Agree with your comments in general, Dale. One point I would make is that I see folks putt with split hand grip. That's different than the armlock and I see no reason why that type of grip should be outlawed. You could use it on any swing, as well, if you adapted to it. Similar to a baseball grip, but with separation.

Personally, I feel it should go as it's a form of "anchoring". To me, it's even more obtrusive than the belly putter as it's anchored to a longer point of contact creating even more stability.

Agree with Todd and Dale.I think it should go. I have a tough time conceptually even recognizing arm locking as a stroke.
  7. I really don't care. I've tried it, and it's not easy. Also, I've never played with anyone that ever used any kind of anchored putter that was anything more than an average putter.

If anchoring a putter like a belly putter is not allowed, then the armlock should not be allowed. To me, it's a form of anchoring.
  9. Personally, I hate seeing it. However, if it was a significant advantage more guys would be using it. I messed around with one, totally awkward, but I can see how if fitted properly it can take the hands out too much and nullifies the nerves so i can see it giving the edge on the professional level. On the amateur level, I would feel like the biggest dweeb trying to game one.

Its interesting to think about. The long anchored putters were so popular and the elimination of those was met with much controversy. Some still believe there are ppl who anchor out there winning money on tour. Hard to say. I guess if pushed to make my own option, I would say arm lock putting is not within the spirit of the game and wouldn't personally choose to use it. I just dont believe we should be making the game harder to play. Most of the arm lock putters out there do it because they aren't very good at putting... this helped them putt better.
  11. Not all golfers are blessed with a smooth putting stroke. Many constantly battle yips or involuntary movement that drives them to seek solutions with various putting grips/styles, such as left hand low, claw grip, pencil grip, etc to try improve matters. I don't see armlock as much different. If they were as good as some might say they are why have more players, including Professionals, not adopted them. They have helped many to enjoy their golf once more. Are they any less in the spirit of the game than long/low loft "bomber" drivers, odd utility/hybrid clubs, etc. My vote would be to limit the length of a putter to say 38/39" as shafts, excluding putters, have been recently limited to 48".
