Today, I had a fitting with my local Titleist fitter, Trevor Davis. I wanted to look into the new GT1 3Tour, as well as the new T series irons. The results were very interesting, and quite surprising to me. First, the new GTR1 3Tour is a beast for older folks like me (80). It's standard setting is 14.5 degrees, but we ended up at 16 degrees (B4 setting), back CG, standard weight, and the same shaft as in my current TSR 2 15 degree fairway, the Tensei 1K Blue 65 GT, Regular one inch short. Compared to my current settings, I gained carry, descent angle, and total distance. We even tried my current fairway with set to B4 and still beat the numbers with the GT1 3Tour. Then we went to the new T Series irons. Here I got a real surprise. Have any of you heard of the T250 Launch Spec 4G irons? ( www.titleist.com/.../562C:RH:5-PW.html) Well, all I can say is Wow!!. Improved apex by 30 feet, descent angle to close to 50 degrees from around 30, and carry distance. And these have lofts that are higher than my current T-150 (2023) irons. Not stronger, weaker. Trevor set mine at 2 degrees weak to boot. Now I will only have 6-9 irons between my hybrids (23, 26) and the Vokey wedges which for me begin at 48 bent to 49. We also changed from my current shafts (NS Pro AMC Chrome 880, stiff) to the Mitsubishi MMT AMC Red 645, a graphite shaft, R2 (Lite Senior), one half inch short. I am really pumped to get my hands on these, which will be over a month since these irons are really new. I'll have them with me by the time the TTI in Star Valley comes, and should be used to them by then as well. Congrats to Titleist on these new T250 Launch Spec irons, and to Trevor for having me try them.
