Lie angles

    This is a question not a complaint. I work at a big box retailer for old equipment and I do repair work. In the last three weeks i’ve checked the lie angles on three nw sets of Titleist irons. One was a T100 set and the other two were T150s All three sets were three to four week old sets and the lie angles were two or more degrees flat. That prompted me to check the lie anges on my new T250S that I have played for about four weeks. All of my lie angles were off also. Most were two degrees flat and one was almost three degrees flat. I’m using a Mitchell gauge so it is a good piece of equipment. My question is does Titleist not check lie angles any longer?

    Yes they do and with state of the art equipment that is much more accurate than what many shops use. They have found in talking to people who check their irons that many of them add tape or paper to keep from scratching the iron head, not realizing that is impacting the reading. Anyone who has toured Carlsbad will come away with a great appreciation for how well they are building to spec and how much computer and laser aided tools are being used.

    Hope so. They carry 2 heads, standard and 2 degree upright. Custom orders can be specified from -2 degrees to +4 degrees lie. Titleist only recommends bending heads for lie to +/-2 degrees
    Forged heads with enough play should be checked for loft and lie every year.
