FJ Hydrolite jacket - not very waterproof

  1. Bought a FJ Hyrdolite jacket in September of 2018 and had only played a few rounds in it with just slight rain here in TX. I would feel wet on the inside but mostly chalked it up to sweating since it was pretty warm and humid during the rain so I didn't really reach out to FJ to let them know. Probably big mistake!

Well that changed yesterday - played in a pretty moderate rain here in DFW area and was SOAKED about 4 holes in. Hydrolite jacked has the zip-off sleeves and it seemed that the sleeves leaked along the elbow and forearm on both sides. Also shoulder areas and chest were soaked too. I sent FJ Customer Service a note full well knowing I'm outside of the warranty period but just wanted to let them know.

So question is - has anyone applied any sort of treatment spray or otherwise to their FJ raingear to help with the waterproofing? On a positive note the pants were awesome!

I am not playing in the rain too often anymore since moving to San Diego but do travel every winter to Bandon. I have some FJ jackets that seem to be holding up pretty well but my older Under Armour rain gear has started to take on water. I spray it with Scotch Guard now before each trip and that helps a lot. Probably will be retiring them soon and sticking with just FJ but will adopt the same method if they start to leak. I also spray my Titleist bucket rain hat before each trip.

With the zip off sleeves, you have the black rain suit, same as I have. Have had mine longer than you. Have had no issues with leakage. Sometimes people wash their rain suits and dry them in a dryer, this will not help their longevity, especially if they throw in one of those fabric softener sheets. I hand dry mine when I wash mine. I also have a Zero Restrictions Traveler with zip off sleeves also, which I have had for many more moons and it is Gore-Tex. Never had a leak either.

agreed the lite stuff is only for light rain and short stints of rain. I have the hydrotour rain jacket and it works like a champ.

These types of comments really should be directed to FJ and not Titleist. FootJoy has a site; Footjoy.com where you can address these issues. There are Ambassadors as well as members of the chat line that can provide you additional guidance. With respect, Keith.
