I try to -feel- like I am taking the putter head straight back, and straight thru. There is still a slight arc, but I want to feel that the face stays square to the line. The key is to have the ball in the right (forward) position, and to not fight the putter face closing after the ball, which causes my putts to miss right. Follow thru and hold your finish, without rushing to look at the ball.
