What is everyone's routine a week before a tournament? I don't play as much and practice more with wedges and putting. Daily hitting around 120 balls on the range and then chipping/pitching for about 90 minutes before putting for an hour to work on rhythm and technique.

I like to go fishing to relax and forget about the tournament. Play a practice round to get a feel for the greens, because that is where you win. I normally play golf three to four days a week. I might back off to two days. Do not do much differently or than go fishing to relax. With my current tournament schedule I primarily play in Senior stroke play tournaments which are only two day tournaments. The tournaments I play in are the same courses every year and have been playing in them for a number of years. I do not play scrambles/captain choice events, only stroke play tournaments.

Tuesday night practice round, Thursday night scramble to relax and have fun
  4. First golf instructor I ever had gave me a simple rule, maybe the best I've ever got. For every ball you hit on the range, you owe me two on the practice green.

  6. Wow cool insight into how you get prepped for a tournament.

I've gotten a lot better this year but tournament play is a long way off yet lol.

I do this little exercise all the time. At home the week before tournaments while watching the boob tube I get my meter stick ( for our american friends it a yard stick just 3 inches longer), a heavy rubber exercise band, my trusty Scotty Putter and ball. Put the rubber band around my ankles place the meter stick on the floor put the golf ball on one end of the stick. I then take my usual putting stance and put the ball off the end of the meter stick. I find that the rubber band strengthens the legs and emphasizes a stronger stance. As I am left handed if on putts the ball leaves the meter stick before the end on the left club face open on the right club face closing or stroke pulling right. I f the ball goes right off the end put is on line. I have found that this little drill helps hitting the putts on line and has steadied my putting stance.

Wish I had the time for that amount of prep. I find playing is my best practice and unless I really need to work on something I won't go to the range but will focus on pitching, chipping and putting at home and at the course.
