9/24/2020 - Traverse City Golf and Country Club. Closing STAG. Hole #7. Uphill 166yd par 3. 6i is way too much club, but there was a breeze in our face. There were 100 folks in the STAG and #7 is a challenging hole, hence there was a backup (and gallery) watching! Right before I teed off, guy in the group following said "you hit a hole in 1 you gimme $10"! I hit a solid shot and it was tracking on a great line... the green is elevated, so you cant really see the cup, but we all heard the invigorating sound of the ball "clanking" the pin! The green also mostly slopes front to back (after the small false front), so 2 of my playing partners drove up to see if it went in. They both raised their hands (like a made field goal) and I couldn't tell if I had a 2 foot birdie putt or they were saying "it good". They screamed "its IN!" and the celebration began! When I looked at the hole, I really damaged the side of the cup as it went in on the fly! It was my first hole-in-one and was awesome to share with my friends! Only bad news was a really popular STAG with 100 guys!...bar bill is gonna be ROUGH, not to mention the $10 I owe Rick for the bet before I teed off! At least I made some $ back on "closest to the hole" proximity!
