I got off work early and decided to go play golf by myself on a hot July afternoon in in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. When I say it was hot- I mean, IT WAS HOT! I started off with a bogey in the starting par four but birdied the par 3 #2. The round kept going well and I finished the front 9 at -1. When I got to #15, I saw that it was a good pin position so I felt I could attack it. My range finder showed 139, which would normally be my 8 but that day I was really launching my AVX golf ball- I grabbed my 9 iron. I did my preshot routine and made a good swing... and it flew at the flag... and it bounced... and it disappeared! I yelled so loud!! And then it hit me- I was playing by myself!!! I looked around and about 60 yards from #15 tee box is #12 green and yep, there were 4 guys on the green who could vouch for me. I stayed on the tee box and called the pro shop and luckily, the head pro answered the phone. I told him what happened and the first thing he asked me was if I'd been to the green- "nope!" He told me to stay where I was and he'd be right there.
He pulled up to the green on his cart, got out, walked to the flag and waived me up. Told me to grab my divot tool and putter to fix the divot that was 4' from the hole. He snapped my picture and text me a copy.
I bogeyed #16 but was able to birdie the par five #17 and par the number 2 handicapped #18 to shoot my best round ever... 69
First time to break 70 and first hole in one! What a fantastic day!
