My dad introduced this frustrating yet fulfilling game back in 1957. We went along the OB fences of country clubs in our area to find playing balls. Over the 63 years I’ve had a love affair with this game playing so many venues I barely remember half of them. I’ve lipped out a double eagle on a par six to rimming aces several times but never TILL today when the sky opened as well as the hole on our simple yet evasive par 3 at Brookside Golf course beside the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. A simple front flag, 141 yds so I hit a brand new AVX ball from a sleeve and 2 hops and a slight roll my FIRST ACE happened. Was I stunned, heck yes! 63 years without made this shot even more even more unbelievable. So I now belong to this very unique club and that’s my story. Oh, the bar tab was more than my winning but the ace was worth it.
