We were playing The Champions Course at Weeks Park in Wichita Falls, Texas. I was having a pretty good round that day. The weather was pretty and sunny with a cross-wind coming from the right to the left. The pin was in the middle of the green on the right side. I almost chose a 7 iron because I thought I might need a little extra club to allow for the wind. However, I chose the 8 iron and it turned out to be the perfect club. The ball hit about 3-4 feet in front of the pin and rolled in. I didn't even realize it had gone in the hole until the guys I was playing with started whooping and hollering. I knew I had hit a good shot and that it would be close, but I didn't know it would be that good! After almost 45 years of playing golf, this was my first hole-in-one and I feel so lucky to have achieved that milestone and that my golfing buddies were there to share it with me. My score for the day was 79 - a pretty good round of golf!
