  1. The Golf Gods Spoke

My saga started when I decided to upgrade my existing Titleist AP2 irons to T100s. Decided to try something different in my quest to defy father time, so I ordered the T100S 3 thru PW in 2 degrees strong. Long story short, after weeks of being told that my order was preparing to ship, I had Dick's reach out to Titleist to see what part(s) of my order weren't available, as I was ready to start playing my new irons. Turned out it was the heads. So I told Dick's to find out if Titleist had either the 1 degree strong or standard in stock, as I might be willing to change to what could be delivered...never did get that opportunity to decide whether I would wait or change.

Less than 48 hours later, I received an email from FedEx that my Titleist order was on the way. Still didn't know what I was receiving--could it actually be my 2 degree strong T100S, or something else? Figured whatever it was, it was. Certainly wasn't sending it back at this point! Turns out it was the standard heads that arrived the afternoon of Wednesday the 10th. I immediately went to the local range to hit a bucket of balls before deciding to stick the T100s into my bag for my round the following morning--11/11 at James Baird Golf Course in NY state.

At a little past 11:00am in the morning (would like to be able to claim it was exactly at 11:11am on 11/11, but I don't really know...Came to the Par 3 third hole which was playing about 118 yards into a light breeze. Took out the 50 degree gap wedge and hit what looked like a pretty good shot. I had just turned to move to the side of the tee for the next person to hit when one of my playing partners for the day said "hey, that's tracking right for the hole" I looked up and saw the ball continue to roll forward up the green toward the stick, and then... it disappeared over the edge into the bottom of the cup. An Ace! Hole-in-one. Have witnessed holes in one, but this is my first.

I don't know if the gap wedge is the same loft in 2 degree strong, but I imagine not. So...if I had received the clubs that I coveted (2 degrees strong) I would never have hit the shot on the trajectory that I did that went in the hole.

    The Golf Gods spoke.
