Western Australia doesn’t have too many iconic golf courses, but, Kwinana Golf course is a 50 yr old gem. Earlier this year, in the heat of the summer, I arrived at the 3rd hole.. this hole is normally my nemesis. A forcefield would sit atop the green and no matter how hard I try, I’ll generally be just off to the right or draw my ball just a little too much to the left and work hard for a 2 putt par.

This day would be different. A SW breeze into our tee shot, i lasered the flag. 138m. 8iron was the tool selected. The green has a bowl on front right and the pin was on half way up the hill. Teeing up and one practise swing I felt comfortable. Teeing up low, I swung through and hit a gentle cut ball that all playing partners watched intently. I recall a trusted member saying that’s looking good as the ball took one bounce and proceeded to roll up the hill by a metre and take a slight left turn before the Titleist yellow Pro V1 disappeared into the hole. I didn’t want to get too excited but the jubilation of one of my playing partners brought me into the moment.

A true joy that I hope to be able to duplicate on three par threes at Kwinana Golf Course.
